Chris Eagles was, according to sources in South Wales, this week close to a move to relegated Cardiff City but that deal could have been scuppered by Harry Redknapp's attempts to sign central defender Steven Caulker.
The departure of a central defender preventing the signing of an attacking player might not seem logical but this is Cardiff we're talking about, the club owned by Vincent Tan. All signings have to be determined and approved by the owner's transfer committee which also comprises chairman Mehmet Dalan, general maanger Ken Choo and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Should Caulker go then they will need to bring in another central defender and it appears that the transfer committee might only permit one more signing, so that would end Solskjaer's hopes of reuniting with Eagles.
He's very keen on the ex-Claret who was released by Bolton at the end of last season following three years there. He fell out of favour with manager Dougie Freedman and refused attempts to get him out on loan at both Charlton and Ipswich.
The South Wales press have suggested that should they pursue Eagles they will face competition from both Middlesbrough and Burnley although I've heard nothing on any potential move back to Turf Moor for a player who was with us between 2008 and 2011.
He made a total of 120 league appearances for the Clarets with the last of his three seasons proving to be the most productive when he started 37 league games and scored 11 goals.

I think the one thing we can all agree about is this latest news thing is because the people who post this haven't got the balls to put their own name to it.Why was this article posted?Because it slags off Tan.
