West Ham and Cardiff City are both interested in snapping up Bosnia defender Muhamed Besic, having been impressed with his performances at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old played in all three of his country's group stage games in Brazil, featuring against Iran, Argentina and Nigeria.

His displays have set La Liga side Celta Vigo on his tail, but the Spanish outfit now face serious opposition from West Ham and Cardiff, according to La Voz de Galicia.

Besic, who can operate as a defender or midfielder, currently plays his club football in Hungary with Ferencvaros.

The Bosnia international was born in Berlin, Germany, and started his career in the youth ranks at Tennis Berlin.

Hopefully the Ole factor, our connections to Bosnian football and a big ass wage packet (lol) means he will join us.

If he's the one defender we are going for I'm worried he was great as a midfielder in the world cup but I'd prefer a bit more experience as a defender ramis or Maguire for me

Having watched him in the World Cup I doubt Ole would play him as a centre half as he's quite short and looked good playing the DM role

City will struggle with Cala as CB; he was shocking'ly bad last season.

Hudson is past it, Turner is average, Nugent is not up to it. Connelly is not good enough..........tis is a huge problem area for City.

What makes you say Hudson is past it?

Caulker kept him out of the team last year (when he wasn't injured) and the season before that he was our player of the year?

No reason why he cant be as good as he was then.

I don't buy the Besic to West Ham rumour one bit. Not an Allardyce player. Which makes you question if the link to us has any truth to us as well. I suspect this may be one of those summer transfer goose chases.

How about :

Didier Zokora (Ivory Coast)

He has been playing centre-back for his country, but the experienced Zokora could be a cheap option for a club looking for a midfield enforcer.

Anyone know any background on him ?

Don't believe West Ham want Besic as they bought Kouyate

He plays in defense at club level, was voted player of the year or something. He will be fine in defense. Like Medel he can play both defensive midfielder and cb.

Would definetly Want to see him at Cardiff.
The lad has bags of potential, stand out player on Bosnia. Young (21), and would fit perfectly with how ole wants to play. calm in possesion. Great distributor of the ball ( he is much better than Chaulker technically), good tackler, he could do a job as box to box midfielder or cb.
I could see the problem being he had too good a wc, think he will have a fair amount of offers. Bleacher report says he is one of the break out stars so far.

I thought this lad had been playing CDM for Bosnia? Cover a lot of ground and has quality. IMO would be a very good replacement for Medel

Cala wasn't bad at all.

He couldn't nail cb position at Hamburg and after seeing him at the world cup I'd say he's not a cb but a gd midfielder

I am not arguing that he is a great prospect as defensive midfielder but if you bother to google him you will see he was between the age of 17-19 when he was at hamburg. Who nails first choice cb position at that age? Chaulker came to cardifc because he wasnt gonna be first choice at spurs remember? Besic fell out with with the Hamburg coach that's why he left. He has played cb at his current club since. From what I seen of besic he would be a great asset but think he will go a bigger club.
