Cyclists numbers are growing in Cardiff

Yet very few give a f**k about the highway code. However if they get hit then they'd soon be complaining!!!

well the real story was that I seen a cyclist kick f**k into a womans car this morning because he went through a red light and she nearly hit him. Anyone who are regular visitors to London would know of the issue there and 5 cyclists died within a matter of days only recently.

I' cycle to work each day and I'm a car driver. When cycling I obey the Highway Code and wait at the traffic lights whilst others cycle past me. It's dangerous enough on the roads without risking your life going through the red lights. There are bad cyclists out there but there are also some bad car drivers who seem to think it's ok to pull out in front of us as we will stop, as for the cyclist going through a red light and then kicking the crap out of her car, well you should have helped the poor woman and then phoned the police

I see it happening all the time in central Cardiff where i work, especially on Wood St,,,,where its not uncommon for cyclists to pass through two sets of red lights.

Also cyclists at night with no lights.

More & more people are encouraged to cycle nowadays, & yet the high way code & safety laws seem to be completely ignored.

It was a cue but one of the drivers and their passenger nearer the incident did help out thankfully. However I know there is good and bad but Im convinced that unfortunately the bad cyclists far outweigh the good cyclists as theres no test before you get on a bicycle so unless you hold a car licence then why would you even bother with the highway code..?

I deal with these ignorant f****rs on a daily basis.

One of my colleagues had an altercation with a cyclist who took it upon himself to use his bike as a weapon against the bus. And then boarded the bus whilst using a head camera (thinking it would be his saving grace) .

But I'm led to believe it's put him in further deep water because of the CCTC laws and recording images and what not.

I Hate cyclists with a passion, think they're better than everyone else and that the rules don't apply to them, they won't act so smug when they're lying in a hospital with a caved in skull and shitting in a bag because a bus took them out for riding through a red light

The ones who wear there Bradley wiggins Halloween costumes are the worst.

i used to cycle down to university, its dangerous as many cyclists don't respect the highway code (if you don't drive how are you supposed to know the highway code), plus motorists who drive dangerously. there are cycling lanes but they are useless as people just drive on them as the roads are often not wide enough!

i almost got run over by a car not looking when turning left. its not worth the hassle, i just drive now.

You get good cyclists and bad cyclists, just like you get good drivers and bad drivers.

I f*cking hate cyclists there have been some serious accidents over the years in Cardiff, people have been killed on the park place cross roads. The City Road/Albany road cross roads is just an accident waiting to happen also, amount of times I see cyclists just cruise through there at a high speeds is crazy.

As already stated I agree with that but percentage wise the cyclists have it for me. Maybe its because that there's no highway code test I don't know but there's something not that and the additional volume throughout the summer we will have a few deaths on the roads locally if nothing is done about it.

Someone said that they are running an 'on the spot' fine process in London now because things have got so bad there.

In Edinburgh also...

I've heard of Cyclist given £30 fines for crossing through the red box into a pedestrian crossing whilst waiting at traffic lights.

As someone who cycles everyday around 20 miles, all year round to and from work, my job is a MGV driver, I also cycle on the weekends I do it mainly to keep fit, and from my home to work it is 90% taff trial.

Some of the comments singling out cyclist as some sort of pariahs on the road is pretty well wide of the mark, I have many times drivers getting jealous of the fact that on occasions I can move faster than them especially during during rush hour, try to block me off by moving closer to the curb. A lot of car drivers are selfish and have previously stated are selfish when it comes to cyclist.

And as for the the bendy busess on Cowbridge Rd, along with taxie drivers, night mare for cyclist

How many cyclist have killed pedestrians ? compared to car drevers.
