Went last year for two weeks in September. Hotel was great. Not much to do out side of the hotel as it's still being built up. Watch that you don't get stung in the sea.
Plenty to do in the hotel. Beers not bad. Water sports and party's every day. Staff are all so helpful, if you top aswell they will defo look after you. I stayed in the Sahara beach hotel. Going again this year, flying from cardiff.

Went to the holiday village there last year. It's was supposed to be a 5 star. I'd say it was More a four. Looked like a war zone outside I'm sorry to say, things half built or half demolished I couldn't really tell! Beach and stuff was ok and staff are great if you tip. I wouldn't go there again.

Went there a few years ago - 4 ****. It was OK but wouldn't go back as there's other places in the world to go and see. This year NY, Washington & Orlando.

Although it is a long time since I went there, about mid 80's, there are plenty of places worth visiting. Most of what is worth seeing is not being built, it's been there for thousands of years. Tunis has a very good museum of Roman Mosaics and there are also the ruins of Carthage and the very clean and pretty Sidi Bou Said with everything painted blue and white, surely a must see for a CCFC supporter (try and google Sidi Bou Said as there are plenty of photos). There is also the amphitheatre of El Djem and the cave dwellings at Matmata which were used in the films Life of Brian, Gladiator and Star Wars.

Only a Fiver I tipped the bar man. He's the most important one. you have to change your money when out there as well going back to another question you asked. They do it at reception at the hotel.

Went to Port El Kantoui last October and didn't like it at all, stayed at the Riviera hotel (all inclusive) the beer and grub was shit, the nearest city is Sousse about 5 miles away,me and the mrs got out of the taxi and the locals are round you like flies around shit,it wasn't for me but you'll probably have a better hotel than we did, hope you enjoy.

Make sure you try eating a brik ( tuna and egg [ the best] in thin pastry deep fried, couscous ( steamed cracked wheat with meat and vegetables) and merguez sausages ( spicy lamb or beef with an aniseed flavour from the fennel seeds). There are other nice dishes according to your tastes, but most people liked the three things that I have listed when I visited. The mint tea is ok, but I liked the lemonade with mint which was very refreshing on a hot day. I also had some of the best oranges I have ever eaten, with the peel really soft like a Satsuma or clementine. When a big shop only sells oranges, they have to have really good ones or they'd soon be out of business.

If it's still the same as when I was there 10 years ago, don't rent a vehicle - use taxi to go anywhere - traffic is literally out to get you.

Food is only good in really traditional places. There was this outskirts rooftop family restaurant we went to as a group over there, had a *nine* course dinner and it was literally the best food I ate all my life. I don't remember directions there unfortunately, but it was a really old clay house all to itself outside of Sousse (near ocean) with a big inner yard (think square donut shaped house) and serving outside lit up by lines of coloured lightbulbs. Could see forever from the rooftop. Food consisted of what they called 'desert pizza', camel and all sorts of actual local food and you could tell it was made with passion.

We were a group of 40 and nobody got sick as well.

Also recommend the beduin camelback tour into just across the border to Algerie if they still do it. Just watch out for them scorpions.

How vague is this question?? Tunisia is a pretty big place you know with lots of different resorts to stay: Tunis, Port El Kantoui, Hammamet, Yasmine Hammamet, Sousse.....

A holiday is what you make of it, so if somebody says food was bad - that doesnt mean the entire country has crap food. They could just be fussy :)

Im going too - but I use a holiday forum called Tripadvisor - might have heard of it :)

went to sousse, couple of years ago.weather was brill.hotel nice, the grub was alright but second week there had the worst case of the shits I've had in my lifetime. booze was crap(only 1% most of it) so couldn't get pissed unless you drunk the wine.entertainment was ok in the hotel but not a lot to do there.

It's a shit hole don't bother, you get hassled to f**k aswell and I don't mind a bit of hassle which I've had all over India, indo, Mexico etc but in a weeks holiday it was too much as soon as you left the hotel, which was terrible, pool was empty ffs, no water, bugs in food, misses constantly getting groped in Tunis....I wouldn't go back if it was free.
