Cardiff’s stadium is in a beautiful city.
It’s no secret that I’ve been miserable for some time now, and it’s not because of the end of season blues. I had become disillusioned with football, started to question why I even cared about a sport where I had seen and experienced more than I ever thought I would when I was a kid. I liken it to a test of faith. My club and sport was testing me, and I was lacking.
With the beautiful sunshine of the last couple of days, I was sat in the garden with a popular cider (don’t drink kids), and I started to miss football. I was paining to be in a car travelling to a town or City I don’t usually see, to walk up to a new ground wondering what it would look like, and most importantly, I missed watching my players play and the range of emotions that that puts me through.
Just as I was thinking all this in the beautiful South Wales sun, I heard ‘Reasons To Be Cheerful’ by Ian Dury and The Blockheads, one of my favourite songs, and I started to list all the reasons, as Cardiff City fans we should be cheerful and I would like to share.
We have signed two proven goalscorers Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda at Championship level.
We have signed Javi Guerra who although is a unknown quantity, I feel he is going to take the Championship by storm. So that’s three strikers who will be a handful.
Kagisho Dikgacoi will be the signing of the Championship this season, you mark my words. Hugely talented midfielder, in for no fee and with Premiership experience. Bargain!
Although I don’t like the man, Mehmet Dalman is making all the right noises about not letting Steven Caulker, Gary Medel and Fraizer Campbell go for cheap, meaning a bit more money in the kitty.
All indications are that David Marshall will stay with us for our battle for an instant return to the Premier League.
We will have the two most exciting wide men in the Championship come August 9 in Craig Noone and Mats Daehli.
If all else fails to get you happy and excited to be a Bluebird, just remember we nearly went out of business in March 2005.
Now, nine years on we have played in the FA Cup final, League Cup final, play-off final and spent a season in the Premier League. We have a beautiful new stadium which is being expanded, and we have a squad of talented players and youngsters. It’s a far cry from the day that Graham Kavanagh was whisked away, reportedly in tears as the helicopter flew him to Wigan so that we could keep the club afloat.
Yes we have problems with the owner, yes we should be playing in blue, but the last ten years could have been a hell of a lot worse.
My main reason for being cheerful? That I’m a Cardiff City fan.

Noone flew on the wings in the prem just think what he can do in the championship and with the strike force we have I can see us scoring a shed load of goals

A lesson to all the people who think the best way of getting what you want is by trying to "do down"with the people you don't agree with.I would go so far as to say this post don't belong on this forum because its too balanced and doesn't get personal.

Great post Annis,
Think we all get down about football from time to time, but it's the positives that keep you going.
Like you say in a car / coach on your way to a game., no feeling like it in the world.
Buzzing for the season anyway but reading that makes me realise it's all worthwhile.
