Done a lot of Italy and for our summer break this year we are thinking of Sardina and wondered if anyone has been there for a holiday and not that Wales game against Italy a few years ago ;)

longer than that wasn't it. It was the 4-0 defeat and Bobby Gould was in charge

Hughes was in charge. Was Sept 2003.

Sorry my mistake the game I was talking about was in Bologna and it was the 4-0 defeat with Bobby Gould in charge and it was actually his last game in charge in 1999. I thought they played the game in Cagliari and not Bologna

Sardinia is great, but Corsica is even better. At least they're both better than Sicily. Corsica being French though, it can be a bit more expensive.

Stayed at Cala Verde, South of Pula, in May 2005 when Liverpool beat some Italian team in a minor cup competition. The south of the island is unspoilt and rugged. We had a car for the week and it is was worth it. The roads were quiet so it was easy to get around. I imagine it could be mental in July and August as this area was popular with Italians from the mainland. Pula is a quaint little town with a few bars, pizzerias and a great Gelataria.

Right next to our place was the Forte Village complex which has football and other academies and is used by football teams.

I see it has a Chelski one now. Very expensive.

Based on my experience I would recommend it.

Hi, went to Alghero on the North West coast. Brilliant place, old walled city, plenty of bars, restaurants and pizzerias. Beaches close by as well.

We done Sicily a few years ago and stayed in places around the Island but I'm told Sardinia is much better.

stayed in Sardinia twice in the last 5 years - rented a villa both times in the North, a short distance from the Smeralda coast which is stunning.

Local village had a Spar which couldn't have been more different to my local Spar in Ystrad Mynach if it tried!!

We flew into Olbia from Bristol I think - Sardinia was and is beautiful, though parts are pricey which is the same for many parts of Italy.

Been to Sicily recently too, but that was a hotel holiday which was fab.

We went to Kefalonia last year - same weather, beach, pool, food etc, but a lot cheaper than Italy. And better English spoken too
