Mark Hudson worried Cardiff City will lose players
By Matt Domm, Reporter
Saturday 21st June 2014.
Cardiff City defender Mark Hudson has admitted that he is concerned that the club could lose several key players following their relegation from the Premier League.
Hudson said that the likes of Gary Medel, Steven Caulker and Fraizer Campbell have release clauses in their contracts, which could see them secure top-flight moves this summer.
"Obviously it's well written that they've got release clauses in their contracts and they are players that are highly sought-after," he told Wales Online.
"Gary has started well in the World Cup. If he goes on and has a really good World Cup, I can't see why there wouldn't be teams wanting him.
"[Caulker is] a young British centre-half who's only going to get better and a leader in his own right, so there's going to be teams after him."
" What worries me most is that they are the backbone of the Cardiff squad "
Mark Hudson has played for Cardiff since 2009 and is currently the Captain.

"Backbone" of a squad that finished bottom of its league. If they go, we'll create a new backbone, as easy as that.

He should be happy if he wants a game, if we don't lose some he will get splinters .......

He certainly was, however, he's had almost an entire season of inactivity since then... plus another year older. The side OGS is setting about building is one that will look to keep the ball on the floor and have movement off the ball and build from the back - that requires players who can pass well and create space for themselves and others.. not sure how Hudson would fit into this new approach to be honest.

Not the quickest but did read the game well and had habit of often putting in timely challenges! Could have done with him second half of last season maybe!!

Medel and Chaulker are good players but its a bit over dramatic to call them the backbone of the squad. They only played for Cardiff for a short while, if both want to move on let them. Neither are irreplaceable and you want to have players that want to play for the club. Marshall is another matter he seems to care about the club, and isnt desperate to leave. It's more important to keep him because of his quality and attitude.

We need a younger but experienced CB, one that can steady the troops but also add to the team. Hudson should be nothing more than a back-up player
