Average team full of average players. It says it all when your best players are the two 19 year olds Sterling and Barkley. Always said they would be lucky to get out of the group

They just arent very good to be fair and for me Hodgson picks the wrong team. I dont get why Welbeck starts every game.

Stand no chance of progressing if they some how by a miracle get through.

This is meant to be a tournament that doesn't matter, with the focus being on giving the youngsters competition experience. Problem is, Hodgson is giving the experience to the wrong bloody players. Shaw, Lallana and Barkley should be starting these games, not sitting on the bench. No issue with them going out at the group stage, but at least make it worthwhile.

Just a couple of shocking errors, not the overall performance. They dominated possession with 63% and had 3x as many shots on target. They just were not clinical enough and made a few costly errors.

Different expectations with a different squad. New players and youngsters blended in and they looked better as a team and played far more better.

They were the worst team I seen by far in 2010 WC and got through, just didn't take chances.

There was only 2 shots on target from Uruguay so they are really shocking England.

It's the media and a few fans that shout the mouths off for England, feel for the team they don't have any players who play in the top club competition so it's not surprising to see them not do well at the big international event the World Cup.

I don't think England have been serious contenders for a major competition since the 1970 World Cup. The English press and TV pundits often suggest that they are potential winners while the rest of the world laugh at them.

I was hoping that England would do well, but tonight was truly dreadful. The Italians won't bust a gut from now on, in this group. That's how they think, just do enough to go through. Travel to Italy a fair bit with work, and watch Lazio off and on. Follow italian football, with its ups and downs. They fear nobody, and take each game as it comes, keeping an eye on the bigger picture. Sometimes it works, other times thy get caught out, but that's how they are. Che sera, sera!
