best since Italia'90 for me. It does help when the World Cup is held in a football loving nation

Have to agree, every game has been quality loving it.

It's good that there has been a bit of variation as well, I know Italy and France went out in 2010 at the group stages but no one would think that Spain would go out the way they did. As well as the Brazil draw, Argentina being run close and Costa Rica completely outplaying Uraguay.

Have so far managed to watch every game and, Nigeria - Iran aside, it's been bloody brilliant.

I love the Venue also everyone has come to play football.
In the past it's been a slow and tight game for many group matches

Id agree with that. Some real quality football and some special goals and the second round of group games has only just started.
Plenty more to come too.

Great game.

Could well go down as the best world cup ever if it carries on like this.

Few decisions from the officials kind of spoil some games.
But loved every game, Iran and Nigeria also.

Wonderful game between Greece and Japan.
Hope both get knocked out, really awful to watch.
Thu Jun 19, 2014 11:56 pm
That was f*cking dreadful. Not so much on Japan's part as they like to attack but Greece set out their stall from the first minute, even with 11 on the pitch. I just can't understand why they would sit back so much against Japan who can be dodgy at the back.
The players and manager should receive a fine for crimes against entertainment for that.

Adam, I agree. Bar the shit refereeing and commentary it's been class. Bye bye England.

No offence to Greece but they are playing at a level well above their station. Wales would be more competitive! They're simply still benefiting from the shite FIFA rankings system that means they're still getting decent qualification draws because they won a tournament by fluke 10 years ago.
They've got a decent draw for Euro 2016 but after that I think they will struggle to qualify for a major tournament again for a while. They are so f*cking boring. Their absence will be greatly received the world over! It's a disgrace they are at the World Cup and teams like Sweden, Denmark and Romania missed out.

Really enjoying the tournament hardly any boring games bar the odd one or two. Not watched a lot of the 11 o'clock games as I'm up at. 6 for work

I agree with you about the quality of the tournament so far, but best since Italia90? You need to get those rose tinted specs cleaned mate, Italia90 was a dreadful tournament, apart from South Africa 2010 it's the worst I've seen and I've seen every tournament since 78. Italia90 had the lowest goals per game ratio of every WC in history, which prompted Fifa to bring in the back pass law in 92. I was 21 in 1990, I think most people who laud Italia90 were were about 10 at the time, and is probably the first WC they remember. Take a look at Argentinas games during that tournament, it sums it all up for me, cynical and very very boring, the Quarter Final v Yugoslavia is one of the worst games I've ever seen. Dreadful!

South Korea vs Algeria one of the best so far
