Gary Medel as center back!

Just my opinion but im sure that if Medel had played next to Caulker we would never have got relegated.
When didnt we even try this out as it was going pair shaped and he plays in this position for Chile?

He's been awful at CB every time I've seen him play there.

The role suits him in the Chile side, 3 at the back rarely works over here though.

IMO he's a RB for Chile. Caulker and Medel at CB would have not covered themselves in glory. Medel would have been far too short to be a CB in the Prem

I meant Gary would be stronger as a RB. I think he played there vs Iran in a friendly when I saw him there before the World Cup. Gary was okay in a CDM role but needed another person just as strong as him, not Gunnarsson whose a headless chicken

considering we were relegated, I'm surprised we didnt at least try it with Medel in a 3 at the back, then it would have been a little bit harder for him to pass it backwards and sideways and we would have had a little bit more creativity in midfield

I seem to remember he had a pretty good game there against england.It can work sometimes.Darcy Blakes finest hour(IMO)was at CB for Wales against England where marked Rooney off the park.
