Following on from Polos Savage thread I would like to hear your opinions on the punditry and presenters so far? Best so far to me has been Neil Lennon, very honest and knowledgeable. Henry is worth a listen and someone who doesn't need to shout for his opinion to carry weigh. I cannot f*cking stand Chiles, Pearce and Savage. The latter talks as if he won it all as a player.
Honorable mention for Talksport whose coverage has been second to none so far and has blown it's TV counterparts out of the water.

Henry. Unfortunately he tries to get his point across and Savage/Shearer will shout and shout to get their point across when I respect Henry's much more. Seedorf very close as well.
Pearce I have chosen as my worst simply because of him babbling on about goal-line technology has failed despite it easy to understand

Henry is so calm and grounded.
he knows these arrogant stuck up english egotists aren't worth the drama.
I dont know why they have to speak so loud and try be the front baller. its idiotic they have almost made the world cup about themselves it should be about the world cup

Seedorf and Hoddle for me as the best.
Lee Dixon is crap as always and I'm dissapointed with Cannavaro, but Chiles makes it a bit awkward between them all.
Can't really say Chiles is a pundit for me.

Henry the best by far. Savage is just awful. I would pay for a mute feature when he's commentating as he is cringe-inducing and ruins games with his embarrasing statements-of-the-fucking-obvious. Chiles, well, I think that the ball bearing that hit the window of the media bridge was really fired at him by his producer.
Tue Jun 17, 2014 9:18 pm
I like hoddle. Henry is decent enough. Lineker is leaps ahead of chiles. Pearce is utter utter gash. Savage and lawro aren't far behind.
Tue Jun 17, 2014 9:42 pm
Chiles always gives an opinion then argues for it, that is not his job. He is there to open the show, introduce and ask the right question. He think he's a pundit and that is where he goes wrong. Lineker would never give as strong opinion as Chiles does live on air, he knows that's not his role.
Which one would you think has been a presenter his whole working life and which one would you think was the ex footballer?
Tue Jun 17, 2014 10:41 pm
Best- Henry also like Strachen
Worst- the ITV commentators (Tildsly & Andy Townsend) f*cking awful!
Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:20 pm
I must admit that Phil Neville has really done well in coming back after his performance during the England game. Making fun of himself yesterday showed alot of character to be honest.
Shearer is awful and Pearce, Savage are just shouters who would be at home on talkshit
Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:28 pm
Henry has been a breath of fresh air, Seedorf too. I agree with Lennon he has been very insightful.
Cannavaro is incredibly dull. I don't know if it is his lack of English but he just bores me and doesn't offer much. Lee Dixon is also bad as ever along with Savage who contradicts himself and shouts. Obnoxious man.

It wasn't Phil Nevilles fault though that's the thing, the people abusing him on twitter need to target the BBC. After all they picked a guy who has never commentated on a game before to commentate on the game that is likely to see their biggest audience of the group stages.

That could well be right but the BBC is held as high as the NHS in this country by some and if they could push the blame onto others instead of their brand then they would do it.
Martin Keown does my head-in too
Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:48 pm
I was shocked to learn that ex players commentating on games is pretty rare in other countries yet in this country we rely on it. If you are good at it then by all means carry on but for f**k sake Michael Owen is awful, as is Keown, as was Neville but I bet he gets another big game. Give people a go but if they are shite sack them off, sky do that and it weeds the people who can't hack it out. The BBC attitude of a job for life in punditry is plain wrong, they don't have the balls to get rid of Lawrenson and Shearer who are way past their sell by date.

Lawrenson is bloody awful end of

I tell you who is very interesting is that Phil Vickery the south American football correspondent

Henry and Canavaro are quite good. Hate Chiles and that Savage is just a c**t. Ian Wright mixing it with the Argie fans I thought was quite funny too.
Wed Jun 18, 2014 9:25 am
Regarding that Ian Wright take with the Argies it would have been better id they sang that song in English as ai bet the words saying 'your mothers are whores' would really go down well with the viewers. Lol
Wed Jun 18, 2014 9:25 am
Henry's ok, funny watching his face last night when Shearer was calling Marcelo a cheater! Waiting for someone to bring his handball up again!
I dont really like any of the others.

Now that would have been good TV.

Henry, Seedorf ain't too bad. That Vickery ain't too bad, seen him speaking the other day, very knowledgeable.
I like how people Patrick Vieira for example always tries to credit the lesser team when getting a good result.
Savage is just dire.
Thu Jun 19, 2014 10:48 pm
Seedorf and Hoddle are good.
Martin O'Neil has surpised me the most, what a footballing dinosaur he comes across as.
Murphy as a commentator is a no no
Fri Jun 20, 2014 12:07 am
Seedorf is a class act and can speak half a dozen languages .
Gianluca Vialli - got the England / set up and hopes spot on .
Chiles still can't work out why there is no WBA player in the starting 11.
What's missing from these World Cup is - "PHONEIX FROM THE FLAMES"

I know, that song was first sung before the '86 World Cup when the Argentine press were negative against the team so its basically a song which abuses their press and calling members of their families a very impressive selection of abusive words and phrases

The song has been sung ever since

I've enjoyed listening to Henry, Seedorf and Viera.. All three talk sense when it comes to the game.

Have you noticed that many of the British pundits try and talk over the three of them
