Rangers face uphill battle to tempt Cowie back to Scotland and a new contract is on the table for Cowie at his present club Cardiff.

Rangers face competition from south of the border for the signature of Scotland internationalist Don Cowie.
The 31-year-old is out of contract at Cardiff City and has been offered a new deal by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but is said to be considering his options.
Ally McCoist was last week linked with an ambitious move for the former Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle player in the hope he could be tempted to return north after five years in English football.
However, reports over the weekend suggest Cowie's former club Watford are now chasing the midfielder, as well as Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town.

Seems harsh to me, can you blame him for considering all his options having been a bit part since he joined. He has nothing but a total pro since he has here and worked his socks off every time I have seen him. At times not played for months but then as fit as anyone when randomly asked to to step in.
I would think he would be a squad player but a good one. I personally hope he signs but I wouldn't worry if he doesn't.

I'd rather we kept him but if he doesn't want to be here, then let him go.

He is probably considering how much game time he will get with us next year. My opinion is that he won't start that often, but more then likely to come on, and sure things up. I'm sure we will find out soon enough.

Don Cowie, of Cardiff City, is the subject of interest from several clubs, following the decision to release the midfielder.
Several clubs are chasing former Cardiff man, Don Cowie
Cowie was not included in the Bluebird’s retained least, after they were relegated from the Premiership last season and the midfielder is said to be gathering interest from a range of clubs, including Championship side, Huddersfield Town.
Town have been interested in the 31-year-old for some time, and his release from the Welsh side may be the perfect opportunity for the Terriers. A move to Huddersfield is also likely to benefit the midfielder who only managed 14 appearances for Cardiff last season and has remained at the bottom end of the pecking order.
Former employers, Watford are also among those interested in the midfielder, whilst Premiership newcomers, Burnley are also in the running. It remains unclear where the Scottsman will be plying his trade next season, but it appears almost certain that he will not be short of options whilst searching for new employers this summer.

Cowie is like the grey man, you hardly notice he's on the pitch - very rarely seems to have the ball at his feet and doing anything constructive with it. Whenever I saw his name in the starting lineup alongside Gunnarsson I knew we were in for a hard time.
Let him go and free up a place for someone who can add more.
