' Bluebirds star eyes move back to Spain '

Monday 16th June 2014.

CardiffGary MedelSevilla

Gary Medel is looking to leave Cardiff City after the team were relegated and wants a move back to Spain.

Medel was at Sevilla before moving to the Welsh capital, and is not happy playing his football in the second tier of English football.

Medel " Spain is where I have enjoyed my football most and a return is what I would like "

The Bluebird’s highest transfer fee paid for a player was Medel, and will be hoping to get their money back for the midfielder.

The Chilean star is currently playing in the World Cup, and has placed himself in the shop window by wanting a move back to Spain.

Valencia are linked with the defensive midfielder, and it seems that Medel is open to listening to what the Spanish side have to offer.

Malaga are also in the hunt for Medel which is likely to drive up the price for the Bluebirds star.

Shopping Spree

Cardiff midfielder Gary Medel may want to leave the Cardiff City Stadium but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in several players for the new season.

One of the key signings recently has been the acquisition of Reading’s Adam Le Fondre, who is equipped with scoring goals at Championship level.

The Bluebirds have also recently purchased former Crystal Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi on a free transfer.

Thanks Gary for your magnificent contribution last season.

Glad to see you feel no responsibility for our relegation last season or any wish to spend a season helping us get back to the Premiership.

One of the major down sides of playing in the Premier League is signing the sort of football mercenary represented by Gary Medel. Happy to accept a nice big signing on fee, happy to accept a nice fat wage packet but wants a "relegation clause" in case the other players aren't up to his massively high standards. Of course, relegation must have been in spite of his superb performances, rather than partly because of them.

Probably has a "loyalty" clause as well which means he'll hang around just long enough to line his pockets further.

For me, taking into account the fee paid together with the wages for this season, and in terms of his contribution over the season as a whole, I can confidently say that, with the exception only of the incredible mistake that was Andreas Cornelius,
Medel was the second biggest waste of money in the history of our club.

Fair enough, good luck wherever you end up Gary. FAR too good for the Championship so not surprised you're keen to get back playing with players of your standard.

That said, we need to look to play a more direct attacking style in this league (not long ball I just mean faster build up play) so it's probably best for everyone that we move on. I'd be more reluctant to lose the likes of Marshall or Mutch in the Championship.

Cut through the pitbull image and what have you got... an overweight, lack of stamina, square ball/backwards ball player? Good riddance to him , be glad to see him gone!
