Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to SKY

Sun Jun 15, 2014 9:52 am

This World Cup (even through its just days old) has proven to mr that SKY has become ever superior in football coverage and so much more that for the first time I would want the World Cup to be covered by them.

BBC and ITV have gone from bad to worse IMO and I'm only now getting up since Phil Neville put me to sleep last night!!! And don't mention Adrian Childs!!! f*cking shit

Re: Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to S

everyone can watch it on ITV and BBC as it's free, not everyone has and can afford sky sports!

I don't understand why people say this. How on earth is the BBC free ? Not heard of a TV licence have you ? They are pissing money away and below average coverage

Don't be so pedantic. You know exactly what he meant.

Terrestrial TV can be viewed for the price of the TV licence. Sky requires a TV licence AND a Sky subscription.

Sorry but that line is used quiet alot and its a lie.

The punditry has been absolutely shocking on both channels and they only have themselves to blame if it was open to competition from the likes of SKY

So what about the Selfish BBC who aren't spending their own money its more of the TV licence from people like your old man which they are pissing against the wall with shit punditry?

Ye because people who cant afford sky will love that.

Re: Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to S

No thanks. People who don't even like football tend to watch the major tournaments on BBC/ITV, whereas only sport fanatics only have Sky Sports

Re: Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to S

Everyone should be able to watch the World Cup, not just those who can afford to

Re: Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to S

Well may I suggest to people who are against my idea to get in touch with the BBC and tell them to up their game as 3 more weeks of this level of punditry will see more support for the idea.

I believe the World Cup should remain on terrestrial TV but they just need to shoot Phil Neville and Adrian Chiles

Put it on mute and then you don't have to listen to it do you. Everyone should be able to watch not because you can't stand the pundits ffs. To be honest Sky is only good because of Gary Neville and Carragher, the rest of the time it's just as shit.

Re: Drop the protected TV rights and give the World Cup to S

I think that it's fair to say that SKY have by far the best TV football coverage followed by the BBC and then ITV.(Although some of the commentators on BBC/ITV are ok.)

SKY would provide a far better coverage of the World Cup however big events like this should be allowed to be viewed by all of the public without payment having to be made. Just have to make the most of what is available! :old:

To date, the BBC has outdone ITV.

Just ignore the punditry if you hate it so much, the commentary teams on both channels are good IMO.

But I think MOTD should stick to one commentator.

I know what you're trying to say, but switching it to sky would be a disaster.
It's true that the coverage has been poor on BBC and ITV. Poor punditry (although I do like Thierry as a pundit) and extremely poor commentary. But it's available to everyone, which is a must for a World Cup.
They have sent people out the Brazil (not cheap either I'm sure) and are covering every game, every day, so it's not all bad, I myself only missed 2 games yesterday because I was out for a meal, but I love the access to all night football, whether I'm home or at my mrs place.

It's a small price to pay for daily football imo

He's absolutely useless. His only job is to push his dad's agenda for everything.

Well give me him over Rio, Ian Wright, Phil Neville, Alan Shearer amongst other any day

Do you know what? Don't watch the analysis at HT and after the game and watch the game without the build up they do beforehand.

Sky have one outstanding pundit (who is coaching at the WC so he wouldn't be on there much if not at all) and one decent pundit in Carragher. All the others are pretty poor. Their commentary is no better than BBC's.

You shouldn't have to pay a ridiculous amount to watch the world cup, especially if Sky won't offer anything different to ITV and BBC.

Jim Beglin and Phil Neville would get no where near Sky as commentators.

The Punditry was spot on last night in my opinion. Honest and refreshing. Phil Neville on the other hand was boring! Other than that, it was good. If you don't like the commentary, press red and listen to 5Live

I did press the red button but it was a delay.

Micheal Owen and Andy Townsend haven't even been mentioned yet. Lol
