New team taking shape.

Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:50 pm

So Pre season is still a good 4 weeks away, and i think the majority of our transfer business (in terms of incomings) is done.

With Macheda, Guerra and Le Fondre, i cant see anyone else joining. These three can (hopefully) replace Jones, Velikonja, Maynard/Campbell (looks like campbell will go though)

I dont know much about this Burgsteller, and now we have just signed the direct replacement for Medel. Providing we keep most of the players who will be key in the middle of the park next season (Mutch, whitts, Noone, kim) i think we will be ok in that department.

Which only leaves the defense for me (unless Marshall goes and we will have to buy a Keeper) I generall think our fullbacks are of poor quality. I wouldnt want to rely on Mcnaughton for a season, there are question marks over what will happen with Brayford, KTC is woeful, John is young and defensively suspect.

If Brayford can sort out whatever problem there is with the club i think he can be good for us, he is/was a top class defender.

In the centre i think we need some major work. I Imagine Cala will stay, and play, but neither Hudson or Turner are Ole type players for me, and while i expect Turner to start a lot, i think we should be looking to get at least one centre back in now.

The starting team for me...

Marshall
Brayford
Cala
New Guy / Turner
Fabio
Noone
Whitts
Mutch
Dikochi
Burgsteller
Le Fondre.

In an ideal world I'd like a bit if a tidy up in defence.

Hudson can go for me, to many injuries and to old to be back up.
Theophile has to go
John a season on loan as well.
Brayford im undecided on as yet to see him for us.

In a CB and first choice left back

I don't care who you are if you think this so called squad is going to get us back in premiere league I will eat my willie and you can quote me a year from now .

If you leave out Dæhli people say he's too good to leave out.
Leave out Noone people will wonder why he was good enough for the Prem but not good enough now.
Leave out Burgstaller and people state he was brought in to start not sit on the bench.

Maybe we should just be happy that we have real options in these areas.

Marshall
Brayford Hudson Cala Fabio
Dikcagoi Whitts
Dæhli Mutch Noone
Guerra
----------------------------------
Lewis, McNaughton, Turner, Gunnarson, Eikrem, Burgstaller, Le Fondre
----------------------------------

That would be my starting squad hopefully keeping Marshall and Mutch. Brayford was probably had the best Season out of all our RB's. Hudson is a leader that our defence lacked last season. Dæhli and Noone have British football experience so it may make sense too start with them and ease Burgstaller in. I think Guerra is likely to be our main striker at least at the start of the season.

Only issue with that's squad is Macheda doesn't feature, maybe in place of Eikrem. If the outs transfer is disastrous maybe we'll look to need a new GK, CB and attacking midfielder. But hopefully we'll keep Mutch and Marshall.

Guerra starts. There is no doubt about that. How he fits them all in I don't know.

Hope cheese burger gets a game and isn't another berget.

Come on this is the guy the attack should be build around and you leave him out ? . The kind of player he is he wouldn't be happy if he wasnt playing.. That's the way to loose him...
Mats just wants to start every game, said so himself, he choose Cardiff over manchester coz he just wants play. Especially now that Cardiff are in the less atteactive championship only reason he will stay is if he is guaranteed lots of playing time week in and out. It aint necessarily him vs burgstaller. Could be him vs mutch or noone too coz mats can play, lm, rm, cam and no 10. If Mutch is even at cardiff next season, have a feeling Mutch doesn't want to play in the championship.

maybe or maybe the idea is to move mats in to a more central position now that ole got burger. defo think mats will be one of oles core players next season.

Frankly think he might be too good to stay put in chamiopnshleague very long.
Heard liverpool and spurs have been sniffing around latest news is villa wants him. But mats just wants to play and become the best player he can be, I think Cardiff can Keep him for now coz ole will allow him to do just that. But he might be gone in a transfer window or two, ole does well to have back up. I have doubts Mutch will stay.. Think there is still quite a lot of reshuffling to be done.
