By PM Webmaster, 11th Jun 2014
BREAKING NEWS!
Chasetown F.C. are delighted to accept an invitation from Cardiff City to play at the Cardiff City Stadium in a pre-season friendly. There is a great deal of mutual respect between the two clubs since they were paired in the now famous F.A. Cup 3rd round fixture
The friendly has been arranged for the evening Tuesday July 29th k.o 7.45pm at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Admission details will follow.
The capacity has just been increased at the Cardiff City Stadium with a further 6000 seats being added to the Ninian Stand development and Chasetown find themselves playing there just before the 2014 UEFA Super Cup tie between Sevilla and Real Madrid on August 12th.

When we played them in the FA cup 2008 some of our board members and supporters struck up a bit of a relationship with them.Cant think of anyone at the club now who would be involved so i dont understand it either.Id rather us play friendlies against welsh teams with our under 21s and give them some money.
I remember when we played them in the cup we only had 600 tickets and they put us all in the rugby club across the road.we had a great welcome, think the chairman was from ebbw vale..........invited us back after the game for more drinks....said he'd put some chips on..........then our friends in the WMP turned up in riot gear with dogs at full time and herded us straight onto our buses so they could escort us half way down the M5.

There is nothing wrong in keeping on good terms with small clubs. Friendlies are about fitness levels etc.
Who cares about the size of a crowd?
Personally, I wouldn't dream of paying to see a friendly. I think they should be free of charge.

Correct, play them at their place, always love playing smaller clubs, but in friendlies at their grounds

I think it's great, gives a smaller club like them a good day out to a bigger club and if the clubs charges a small fee for tickets will help them raise money. Bigger clubs should be doing more to help support lower league teams and it would be great if the club did it for local welsh teams as well.

It'll be to serve the purpose of obtaining a health and safety certificate for the new tier of your stand ahead of the Super Cup final I'd have thought.

Nj, then they will only have to open less than quarter of the new stand and close the rest of the stadium

Hark at all the big time charlies on here.
Remember where we have come from and
Where we go, I take the point about Welsh Clubs, ie Merthyr
But there is no harm in this and will more than likely
Be development squad and a day out for chasetown
And their fans.
Some people just like to moan

There has to be a game played to satisfy health and safety and fire officer requirements.

Because it gives the DVP a runout against a first team side?

If its the kids, there yr right, totally understand and Free admission
Fri Jun 13, 2014 9:42 pm
Hope it is free admission , though I very much doubt it ! I'm looking forward to it , primarily so I can meet up with , and enjoy a beer or 3 with my friends from Cardiff , who I met through the cup game , Jan 2008, but also because it is an honour for a small club like ours to be invited to play in such a stadium , the players can only dream about it !
See you there .

When did we become to big for our boots, remember when Man city had to play us in a pre season friendly because they signed one of our players , possibly Andy Dibble and had their lowest crowd ever.

I was there, we took 64 fans to Man City that Thursday night, the crowd was 4,500. It was because of them stealing Phil Neal off us,that was their way of compensation.

I think we have a close bond with chasetown as they are the only club to like us
Sat Jun 14, 2014 6:51 am
The new stand will require two 'ramp up' events. The first of these will need a minimal crowd in the stand. With the other testing it near 70 or 80% full.
The level of opposition will be purposely low in order to cater for a lower crowd. A lower crowd is what is wanted and expected.
The Wolfsburg friendly a few days later will then test the stand further.
The amount of spectators in the new stand will be controlled and the club will probably go for 25% stand capacity for the Chasetown game, actively directing fans to or from the stand to make the 25% figure.
They will do the same for Wolfsburg but with a 75% capacity maintained.
We REALLY will moan about anything.

It definitely is the kids, it probably will be free admission for kids and something like 3/5 quid for adults, it's nothing important, plus the first team are away at Yeovil the day after I think

Really disappointed as I'll be on holiday. Love games against these type of teams and it's great the Chasetown links are being maintained. Would be better at their place though but good for Chasetown to come here.
Sat Jun 14, 2014 4:44 pm
This has been announced as a U21 game.

Its good for us to go to play there but i bet the chasetown fans will enjoy their trip to the capital and the cardiff stadium more

A few chasetown fans have made the trip to CCS in the past. Come on lads isn't it good we at least show some respect to smaller teams
How many Div 1 or Div 2 (old speak) played us in friendlys when we were in Division 4.
It doesn't matter who plays for us it's a case of giving a team who are non league a real occasion
They will be in the same changing rooms as utd, arsenal liverpool
What a buzz for a youngster from Stafford
If the team make a couple of grand from it as well then I think it's a great idea
At the end of the day it's a chance for ole to see our youngsters and a few first teamers in a competitive match
Quite a few league of Wales teams are probably on a par with chasetown anyway
Good luck Italy tonight I know I will be cheering for you
