' CARDIFF CITY SIGN THEIR 5TH SIGNING '

The club have confirmed the signing of Kagisho Dikgacoi on a three year deal from Crystal Palace.

Cardiff City sign South African international midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi, taking summer transfer tally to five.

By Simon Gaskell

"The manager was persistent in wanting to bring me here, which always means a lot to a player," said Dikgacoi

Cardiff City have signed out-of-contract Crystal Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi.

The 29-year-old turned down the offer of a new contract with the Eagles and has joined the Bluebirds on what is believed to be a three-year deal.

Dikgacoi - capped 54 times by the South African national side - becomes manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fifth signing of the close season, following Adam Le Fondre, Javi Guerra, Guido Burgstaller and Federico Macheda.

Following news of his signing, which was revealed by the Bluebirds on their Twitter feed, 29-year-old ex-Fulham midfielder Dikgacoi said: "The manager was persistent in wanting to bring me here, which always means a lot to a player.

"Growing up I was a big fan of the way he played and I can’t wait to get started with my new team-mates in training

"I’m really looking forward to my first game in front of the Cardiff City fans.

"Like Crystal Palace fans, CardiffCity fans are extremely passionate & love football. I’ll be sure to give them 100% effort."

Thursday 12th June 2014.

According to reports coming out of the UK, Bafana Bafana midfielder, Kagisho Dikgacoi, is close to joining Cardiff City.

KG’s agent, Alex Levack, yesterday confirmed that there were lots of talks going on regarding his future, but that he was weighing up his options.

According to Ed Aarons, the deputy news editor at the Guardian, Dikgacoi should be playing for Cardiff in the Championship next season.

Aarons tweeted saying, “Had it confirmed that Kagisho Dikgacoi 'is close' to joining Cardiff from #cpfc. Thanks for the memories @KGDikgacoi.”

The crew will continue to look for confirmation on the midfielder’s move, though it seems that he has chosen Championship football over the Premier League after he was offered a new deal with the Eagles.

KG joined Palace in 2011 after an unhappy spell at Fulham and could now be set for a new chapter in his career.
"Keep smiling....it confuses the bastards!!"

It's an area of the team we need to strengthen, but he isn't any better than Gunnarsson imo. I think we should be looking for better than Dikgacoi.

Palace fan here,

KG is a very average player, what annoys me is he is quite passive for a defensive midfielder, he doesnt snap into tackles, he sits in front of the back 4 pretty much all game and is happy to let the opposition have possession under no pressure

What he does do well is interceptions around the edge of the box and he's strong physically but he is awful in posession, he wont show for the ball at all and if the ball is passed to him he will panic and lose posession, basically its like having a centre back in your midfield.

Pretty poor signing for a side wanting to get automatic promotion imo

Hopefully South Africa haven't/won't qualify for the African Cup of Nations.

thanks for update - why then have Palace (prem ) tried to give him new contract ?? Do you not rate Pulis`s judgement ?

Rumour is that Pulis isnt that bothered about him hence youve probably offered him a much better deal.

I genuinely hope he does well for well but I reckon he's the sort of player that who'll be screaming about how shit he is after a few matches seeing him constantly pass to the opposition.

Sadly, at Cardiff City FC that is "par for the course" for ANY player that isn't a world beater from Day One

Not sure why anyone would want to join us.

If he was one bad game, people will start calling him a c**t and blame mackay for looking at him once 4 years ago.

If he has 3 great years of performances then leaves, people will call him a c**t.

adds more depth to the squad, decent wages. he cannot be flop or a gamble, I think he will be a good championship player. can't complain about a freebie

Exactly, we are now in the championship so it's horses for courses as was the season we got promoted, only problem after that was malky virtually kept playing championship level players in the premiership instead of going after seasoned premiership players.

Interesting signing if he is around Gunnar's level. Tbf Gunnar is a championship winner and was very good, albeit in spells, during out promotion season. It's all got to be how Ole wants to set up next season and who stays.
