Just watched the story of his battle with cancer. Love him or hate him, you've got to respect him. Top bloke!

Don't think I was preaching. Just saying I respected him for what he's done for charity and other cancer sufferers since his own battle. But, of course, you're free to disagree.

Love him or not, you can't help but be moved by that programme this evening. I always cheered him on when he pulled on a Wales shirt too.

Not liked amongst Cardiff fans though, I certainly remember THAT "welcome" he got at Ninian Park !!

Another great post. Your parents must be so proud of you.......

Re: John Hartson

Why are you getting so upset that people are disagreeing with you?!

Re: John Hartson

Wed Jun 11, 2014 9:30 pm

He was a professional footballer and as such should take such banter and laugh it off.

Clearly he does have a chip on his shoulder about CCCFC fans, otherwise he would not have mentioned it on his documentary, and then trying to placate us by showing us that he voted for Jordan Mutch goal at Fulham.

Having said all that, John, I would still take you over that Savage tw*t

Can't see where anyone is disagreeing with me. If calling someone a "c**t" is disagreeing with me then the standard of debate on this forum is at an all time low

Re: John Hartson

Enjoyed the programme and Hartson came across very well. He has struggled with very human failings and then battled and overcome cancer. Good on him and his family. He went up in my estimation.
A serious topic, but the best joke was Martin O Neil saying he remembered saying to John Hartson "you best warm up now cos you are coming off!"

Well you can see it, because AJ disagreed with it and you even acknowledged it.

I'll ask again, you say people are "free to disagree" with you, then get all upset when they do so.. Why?

As for standard of debate... You're debating in another thread by pointing out incorrect English use... Doesn't say much for your standards of debate. :thumbright:

A Man on his knees was kicked in the head... Volleyed kick at that...

You can't see the c**t in that equation?

Re: John Hartson

didnt see that incident you're talking about, so cant comment...

But I have lots of respect for Hartson, he's a player you love to have on your own team and hate when he's playing against you. And one of the main reasons why we dislike him is, cos he was so god damn loyal to his local team. He'd be a Cardiff legend if he had been born here...

And an illness like cancer is something, you never wish for anyone. There's more in life than football...

He could've killed or seriously injured his teammate.

And the FA Fined him £10,000

I'm with you 2^^ glad he got over his illness, i tip my hat to anyone who beats that terible disease, but other than that, he's an absolute kunt in my book, I could never bring myself to listen to him as a pundit or any other time he's on tv

Would never wish it on anyone.
Fact is people are diagnosed with this awful disease all the time.
Not all are lucky enough to come into remission.
Not all are lucky enough to tell there story to people who are willing listen.
We have a poster on here who battles against this horrible thing.

Everyone has there own story.

My point in this case is, In John's Story he kicked a man who was on his knees in the head.
Now he could do lots of good work for all sorts of charities, but he still did what he did.

That makes him not a very nice person in my book.
I don't wish any harm to him.
But I will not sit here and say "What a guy".

So a man can make one mistake and after that do a hundred selfless acts and you would still judge him on that one incident :?

I think that's more a reflection on the judges than the judged to be honest

Fair play John.

Re: John Hartson

He wasn't a nice bloke clearly has underlying issues to have such a bad gambling problem he also had a very arrogant side.

Everything happens for a reason what I will say is since his cancer I think it changed him in many ways

Re: John Hartson

He was cornered on the Cardiff question by a Cardiff fan journo wanting a piece of the action. It was thrown in randomly and you could see John's face thinking WTF!! and where did that come from. There was no need to mention Cardiff in the whole programme apart from Mutch's goal but somehow the journo squeezed you in between him scoring at Anfield for Celtic and beating the big C.

It was as if he wanted John to put his foot in it and be hated all the more in Caerdydd.Brilliant and inspirational programme that would have given all cancer sufferers a boost.

Re: John Hartson

I quite like the guy, but I thought he came across as quite arrogant. He certainly thinks he's a better footballer than the rest of the UK thinks he is.
