Does anyone remember reading away 1998 4th round replay?

Sun Jun 08, 2014 11:09 pm

having a reminis on the glory days!. come across a reading away ticket - does anyone remember this trip?

I can remember the 4th round draw and not being able to sleep the week building up to our home tie v reading.
Was a cracking game and we got the replay I think everyone was buzzing because for us it was like the world cup final getting that far at a time we were not having much success.

so we travelled with an army of fans! it was crazy the whole away end was jam packed you had police taking photos and I dont remember alot but I can remember hundreds of fans singing you can stick your fu**ing photos up your ass at the police and chants of coom by yaaa my lord.

and football wise we took reading all the way to penalties and lost 4-3 it was absoloutely devastating and at the same time one of the best trips of my life. our support that day while in division 3puts our home support last year to shame

I was there that day. Bloody Lee Jarman missing the decisive Penalty. Lots of fans sitting on a big wall behind me if i remember correctly. Elm Park. Think Bowen and Leggy both played against us that day aswell. Cracking night but bloody freezing :ayatollah:

My First and last visit to Elm Park.

Remember my mate Paul being struck by a Shoe..... Just the one...

Lots of Talk of Chelsea being Mobbed up at the game.
Don't know if it was true though?

Great night our young group travelled up in three cars, one of the group got pissed on a bottle of his dads rum (16 years old) he got nicked outside the ground because he could not stand up lol, I believe a small group of Cardiff had their hands full when a fight started near a skip ?

Yes it was 97/98 season, remember it well.lets just say I had to go back up the following Tuesday.can remember leaving cardiff central around 9.30 am for a 7.45 ko.to say there were many lads worse for wear would be an understatement.never forget being pelted with pint glasses and golf balls in the corner which separated both sets of supporters.just managed to make the last train home which had come from London and Eddie butler was on it.he took a rite ribbing off a few of us but all in good fun.her in doors was not a happy cookie when I got home.mad day out tho!!!

It was a hell of a trip and one of the last truly old school style aways.

Didn't the train have to stop in Swindon too for a while after some kind of fire on board?
