How can India be so poor and backward? I used to work with a load of Indian lads, they worked 60+ hours a week! fair doos! but sent as much money home as possible! and barely spent any cash here.

The vast majority of Indian people are peaceful people and are just trying to survive.

It really is life and death, day and night, with families not being able to feed their kids.
