A forum for all things Cardiff City

Don't get me wrong, to lock horns with the top clubs is what you strive for but from a fan's point of view it's a total rip off. The away days in the Championship have been a blast. Charlton away, where we were warmly welcomed in the Anchor and Hope. Watford, at
the Moon under the something? There are many more experiences I could quote. Weeds, a visit to Brentford and Wolves should be entertaining. Bring it on!

I think it's Overrated, whoever has the most money wins

For me I love the championship, the prem wasn't all that, the only thing I enjoyed was watching cardiff on SS1 match choice that's bout it
Sat Jun 07, 2014 12:19 pm
I don't think it's overrated.
The Man City win and the feeling you can get from celebrating a goal and beating times like that just shows how good it can be.
Our problem was that the season was spoilt by Tan's meddling, the rebrand and all the issues regarding it off the pitch.
Just ask Palace fans, they will tell you how much they loved last season.

No

Football is football, in whatever division. It's no fun being turned over every week, so last season was disappointing. Personally, I just enjoy going to the games, especially to new grounds. Wherever CCFC play, basically.

Depends if you are any good or not. Of you are crap then yes it probably is

Next season when MOTD is on and I'm
Enjoying watching the top teams battle it out, seeing real quality all over the pitch and stars from the World Cup playing on British soil, I want to see my team on there. Waiting for the League Show after will be a step down. Anyone who says any different is just plain daft!!
This post seems to be rubbishing the PL and it looks like sour grapes. If we had ended up
Mid table above West Ham, Villa, etc., the attitude would be a bit different in my opinion.
If I was a Hull fan, I'd be looking forward to being "ripped off" but seeing my players perform on the European stage. Those memories can't be bought but they are worth paying for.
Man City last season was a taste of what might have been. It's not too late to do it again!!!

Overpriced yes over rated I personally don't think so but to be fair you lot had a mare in more ways than one so you probably have a different outlook
Sat Jun 07, 2014 3:08 pm
Its only enjoyable for the people who support another club.
Which is most
Sad really
but for the rest of us its just a grind watcing the premiership and the same sides winning it

I think roathy is spot on... once again.
Antagonistic? - Yes
instigating? - Yes
Trouble stirrer? - Yes
Cleverer than most who post on here? - Yes
Thick skinned? - Yes
Ive never been close to replying to Roathy because he plays the game better than most on here and without a doubt he does his homework before posting.
Why don't you just f**k off? haha

No different from any league in that as a fan you want to see your team play well and win. Unfortunately in the PL unless you're a fan of a top 7 or 8 team you lose more than you win, and unless you're one of the big boys you've got little chance of ever winning it.
Personally I'd rather challenge at the top of one league than struggle towards the bottom of the league above.

If you like watching your football sat on the sofa eating nachos its brilliant.

I guess there is an element of sour grapes if I am honest.

Agree. The only time you really hear this is from the fans of a team not in it any more. Nature of the beast.
Im sure Southampton arent drafting an email to the FA as we speak asking to be demoted to league 2 and be allowed to stay there just so they can keep winning it because they arent close to winning the Premier League.
As fans you should want your club to be the best it can be, and for that to happen you need to strive to compete at a higher and higher level not just want to dilute the quality of opposition in order to win.

I think you have got the concept of this thread all wrong. No one is stating that they do not want to be in the prem, they are just stating it's not all it's cracked up to be, when you take into account extortionate prices, bubble trips, over the top stewarding. I for one can honestly say I enjoy the championship more, but would not say no to a return to the prem.
Sat Jun 07, 2014 5:40 pm
A few have said they would rather win more often in an inferior league.
Sat Jun 07, 2014 5:42 pm
Always said the worst part for me were the lads who had followed Cardiff through thick and thin and waited until they had their wages on a Friday before going down the ticket office to buy their tickets for games.
They could not afford season tickets and so missed out on the majority of games in the premier league season

Mr. "Roath magic" you just insulted MY CARDIFF CITY FOOTBALL CLUB by suggesting we were crap and very unenjoyable in the Premier League.
For that I have worked my PINK "Cindy Magic" on your AVATAR

We went up and came straight back down because we weren't good enough.
We haven't really got a view on it if we were established, if we ever did become established for a few years then I would give an opinion.
Sun Jun 08, 2014 8:44 am
If you are a proper fan going to the matches then yes.
but if you are just an armchair prem fan then it must be fantastic

I agree with your sentiment, we as cardiff fans are probably the last people to have an opinion on the premiership due to our utter shambles on and off the pitch last season, i personally hated the way the so called "football experts" would speak about us as if we had no right to be plying our trade against some of the teams in the premiership.
Sun Jun 08, 2014 9:29 am
In 89', you could pay £3.50 to watch Utd, should be about £7 today.
Fans are mugs.....

The price to watch some of the away glamour games brought it home that the premier league is not for the working class. Although the place I really wanted to go to the Emerates was brilliant value - They must have known how bad the weather was going to be
I think a lot of our fans have forgotton or have never known what its like to a mullered every now and then, well the ones that stay for next year will now know. Its part of the learning curve.
I think the rebrand has made us very sensitive to the franchise fan concept. We accrued a lot of newbies who probably just wanted to watch premiership football and the fact they could watch in live in their own city/region was great. With so many of those new fans the old Cardiff was diluted. I have Jack friends who feel the same.
I think we would have enjoyed it more if we beat Blackpool, as it would have been backs to the wall and just have a laugh (thats what the Jacks did). But after watching every home game in red during the champioship years the feeling of detatchment grew and grew until the second half of the premier season became a non event.
Sun Jun 08, 2014 1:11 pm
No, but because of disparity in teams there are more lows than highs for newly promoted teams, plus with less matches and more riding on each match the highs are higher and the lows are lower. Just think of the elation after beating Man City or the despair after losing to Palace; compare with wins and losses in the Championship (not derby matches though) which are quickly forgotten, as there are more midweek games, plus the media is on to the next story , whereas in the Premier the media keep regurgitating the results.
Sun Jun 08, 2014 9:26 pm
Also doesn't help when we was in red for that season, if we was in the rightful colour, easily would have been 10 times better for everyone, everyone as one more support for the team, fans more positive manner.
