' £6m Marshall Bid rejected by CCFC '

Thursday 5th June

Reports suggest the Gunners have approached the Bluebirds over a move for the Scottish stopper, but have failed to come close to meeting Cardiff's asking price.

Marshall has always claimed that he wants to stay at the club despite their relegation to the Championship.

However, if either Arsenal or Tottenham - who have also been linked with a move - meet Cardiff's £15m price tag the player could make a speedy return to the Premier League.

Earlier this week Marshall's Scotland international teammate Shaun Maloney believes that the 29-year-old won't be affected by the speculation.

He told Wales Online: "I can't see David getting carried away by the speculation.

"I know he's happy at Cardiff and can't imagine him acting in a way that would upset his club.

"I'm particularly pleased for him. He had to work to get to the Premiership and to have a great season. I was with him when he was a young player and he had to move to find first-team football.

"From a young age when he burst on the scene, everyone knew how talented he was. It's rare for a keeper to come in and play regularly when they are hardly out their teens.

"But he had to go and find first-team football and believe in his own ability. We've seen that. These days he believes in how good he is and he's becoming a better goalkeeper because of it.

"For club and country for the last year he's been excellent. He's just become more confident within himself.

"It comes with age - you become more experienced and become a better keeper."

Good. Appreciate Marshall is a goalkeeper but he is worth more than 6 million.

You cannot blame Marshall wanting to step up to the Premiership if the opportunity to join a top 6 team came along but does he want to be a number 2 ? and secondly the bidding club have provide a 'reasonable offer based on the fact that if not the top keeper last season he was certainly one of the top keepers in the Division. It's a case of finding a figure that is suitable to everyone.

If he stays it's a great bonus.

No one would bat an eyelid if they bought a midfielder for 15mill, but a goalkeeper that saves you countless points during a season they offer 6mill. It's a joke

He would want to go and I'd say that they will come back with an £8 million fee which would be accepted

How do you know? They are trying to take the piss, tell them to come back when they've at least doubled that offer.
