Leicester City activate Cardiff City release cause for Frazier Campbell
BY SEAN MAKIN ⋅ THURSDAY JUNE 5, 2014 ⋅
Leicester City have activated a release clause in Frazier Campbell’s contract with an £800,000 bid for the Cardiff City striker.
The 26-year-old former Manchester United striker was the Bluebirds’ top scorer last season with nine goals as the Welsh side suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Frazier Campbell is set to hold talks with Leicester City
Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to hold on to the striker who he believes can lead the club to an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
Solskjaer has already signed three strikers this this close season in Javi Guerra, Federico Macheda and Adam Le Fondre.
Campbell will now hold talks with the Foxes under the terms of his release clause.
West Brom, Everton and QPR have also been linked with a move for the striker.

I'm not that fussed on him leaving but for £800k?! That's obscene. Unless it was a "deal breaker" term that he wanted put into his contract when he signed for us then that's a ridiculously small fee for a player who should be worth a lot more. He's worth £2m-£3m in my eyes so that's a huge mark down and I'm sure others value him even higher.

We bought him equally as cheap , obviously his agent does this so they can get a larger signkng on fee and salary .......
Unless a few other teams come in and its goes to Dutch auction i guess it is what it is

Anyone else concerned that Moody may be leaking contract information? How did Leicester know there was a £800k clause? Leicester must be rubbing their hands. I am think Fraser would start majority of games this season if he stayed, and get a good haul. Good honest servant, and would be better suited to new attacking style team Ole seems to be building, as I am starting to think we are going to rip this division apart.

Not really, the release clause has been mentioned a lot with Hull, West Brom.
Short memory shocker this guy basically got us over the line and had 7 in 12 for us from January, I wouldn't mind him leaving if it was 4 million.

How do any clubs know about a players release clause? I suggest you look up the word "agent".
