Cardiff fans these days, in shattered dreams as the bellowed blue shirt and honorable crest have been rebranded. I can respect that, but here is another side of the coin. And one of opportunities missed for your club, your children and your community. You may Hate Vincent Tan and think he have destroyed the club as you know it.
But if the fans, local business, the community and Cardiff as the Welsh capital had used this to their advantage, they could prosper great from their forward thinking. Ill limit myself to three points, as i know people don't like to read. But here is a few pointers.
[b]Think not what the Asians can get from Cardiff, but what Cardiff can get from Asia/b]
[b]1. The plastic fans/b]
Local cardiff fans feel they are the hart and soul of the football club. In many ways this is the truth.
They are the followers of the club on a daily basis and create the atmosphere in the stadium and around their player. But the truth is, any top british club would not exist in their level without the plastic fans, as the money put into football through merchandising and tv rights are many times greater than those of local fans. One broadcasted premier league game for Cardiff can reach as many as 2 BILLION VIEWERS. Can you imagine the marketing value for Wales, Cardiff as capital, the club and local communities and businesses? How much do Brownie pay the Echo for 1 page advertisement?
[b]2. Visit Maylaisia/b]
The sponsor on Cardiff shirt say «Visit Maylaysia» But what about «Visit Wales»?
Tourist advertising is a two way street, and is working both ways when it comes to advertising.
The fact is that todays growing tourism is traveling Asians. They are the new breed of capitalism and the new breed is spending hundreds of billions on travel every year. The free advertisement as listed above, the rich cultural, geographical destination and unique nature makes Wales a great destination with opportunities of prosper. This would stimulate infrastructure, new businesses and create employment for young Welshmen.
[b]3. Local business, new markets/b]
«Every thing you own is made in Asia» There is some truth to this, and if you check some of the stuff you have laying around, it probably is. But the truth is Asia is also the worlds largest growing consumers group and are reliant on import. Consumers is only part of the market available, as Asia is developing in their industrial evolution. Their need to adapt technology to meet environmental and global demands is making some European Businesses flourish. Europe is milestones ahead both in the oil sector and clean energy technology. Business connections is already there, but the opportunity for growth is staggering. All there for innovations and young minds to explore and invest.
To sum up Cardiff City has the unique opportunity to be a stand out club in the premier league with the Welsh flag on the their chest, a few among many, and the opportunity to make something good of something bad. This is not RED PROPAGANDA, this is reality. I don't give rats ass about club color, I'm an admire of football. But the way is see it, this is the street of missed opportunities and Cardiff City will soon be back to their rightful gentleman's club, playing with their original crest, blue shirts. Agendas, intrigue and fighting instead of all creating opportunities.
