The CB City need - on a free!

Tue Jun 03, 2014 7:24 pm

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... ract-early

"Fulham have released Norway centre-half Brede Hangeland from his contract 12 months early.

Hangeland, 32, signed a new two-year deal on March 2013 which was to extend his stay at Craven Cottage to 2015.

However he and the Whites, who he joined in January 2008 from FC Copenhagen as Roy Hodgson's first signing, have decided to part company after relegation from the Premier League.

Hangeland made an instant impact, helping the club achieve top-flight survival by winning four out of the final five matches the same season.

The Norwegian also featured prominently in the club's 2010 UEFA Europa League campaign which ended in the final after Diego Forlan's extra-time winner handed Atletico Madrid victory.

He went on to make 272 appearances for Fulham, scoring 12 goals."

---------------------------------

So, what do you guys think? Fulham's captain was sacked today, no mutual agreement according to norwegian news.

Do you think it's possible to get Hangeland to Cardiff? Do you want him at the club?

For me he fits the bill perfectly. On form, I believe he was one of the best Premier League centre-backs not long ago. And I think he has got a good few years left in him.

Love it when great football analysts put their word of wisdom down like this. Makes me proud to be a Cardiff City fan
But Hangeland dont fit the style of football played by ole. He will do well in Italy with a sitting defense if he can get back in shape. Struggled with injuries this year and had a rough patch, and no doubt his wage is the reason their club captain is let go.

You might be right about him not fitting the style of football OGS wants. Still, I think Brede can be a fantastic centre-back, and a type of player that don't show up as free agents too often.

Hope to see him stay in England at least. Can't believe there are no norwegians in the PL next year! In OGS' treble-season there were 22 norwegians in the premiership.. Sad for us across the pond :(

Hangeland can have a long and fantastic career in Italy IMO. Just like Nesta, Maldini and Cannavaro. He is top notch when in shape  Daelhi and Eikrem will serve some humble pie next year, thats a promise!I remeber Erland Johnsen, probably the hardest fok to ever play the premier :laughing6:

No better than what we have, and on big wages probably.

His career has been ruined by injuries. Not long ago there was talks of him going to Arsenal

I thought he had a really good battle with kenwyne in one of the only games he looked half interested in. There are worse out there on a free that's for sure
