How Mutch do you want him? Sunderland told to stump up for Cardiff midfielder

SUNDERLAND will have to bid £4m to persuade Cardiff to sell midfielder Jordon Mutch.

MUTCH ADO ABOUT SOMETHING: Mutch is in demand after impressing in the Cardiff side that were relegated last season

Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman has denied the relegated club have accepted a £1.5m offer for the 22-year-old, who scored seven goals last season.

And he insists Mutch is not for sale as Cardiff look to regain their Premier League status at the first attempt.

"We have not received any bids for Jordon and he is in our manager's plans for next season," said Dalman.

"Jordon is a Cardiff City player and that will not change."

HOW MUTCH? Sunderland being told to stump up the cash.

But that is unlikely to deter Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, who is looking to rebuild his squad at the Stadium of Light after last term's escape from relegation.

He has already brought in full-back Billy Jones from West Brom and Jordi Gomez from Wigan on free transfers.

And with Jack Colback looking increasingly likely to quit the club - with West Ham favourites to sign the out-of-contract midfielder - Poyet plans to bolster the Black Cats' engine room.

After last summer's disastrous transfer dealings under former director of football Roberto Di Fanti and sacked boss Paolo Di Canio, the Uruguyan is determined not to repeat their mistakes.

He wants the majority of his signings to have Premier League experience and has identified Mutch as the goalscoring midfielder Sunderland have lacked.

Poyet has also not given up hope of signing Liverpool striker Fabio Borini after his successful loan stint on Wearside.

He is ready to sell Danny Graham and Ignacio Scocco in a bid to fund a £10m move for the Italian, whose hopes of regular first team football at Anfield next season have been further dented by Rickie Lambert's arrival.

Poyet is selling that Scocco who was linked with us already well im glad we didn't get him now as he doesn't look impressive from what I saw of him and £4 million is a much better offer as Mutch is on his final year on contract.

When Dalman was talking about Campbell the other week he said that the club were talking to him because the club wants him to stay, in my opinion that means only one thing and that is Campbell does have a release clause in his contract and he wants out.

In his statement yesterday Dalman said that not just that the club had received no offers for Mutch but that the player was not for sale. But we all know that every player has a price where the club will sell and despite being the top scorer for us last season with only 1 year left on his contract then £4m would, in my opinion, be a good price. Unless of course Ian Moody is in charge then you could double that.

I have been told that Mutch will be one of the big earners at the club after Caulker, Campbell and Medel are gone so maybe the club will be interested in cashing out on Mutch this summer.

£4m would do nicely for me.

I think he'll go to Sunderland but on the footballing side, not taking into account contracts e.t.c, he's worth a lot more than £1.5 million. Btw..... grumpyguts, I've noticed that you always comment on Chuckle's posts... why do you dislike him so much?? :?

I can see him fetching £4-£5 million IF he goes. Hope he stays personally. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

As well as he played in some games for us and scored some good goals , he often went missing in games, he needs to be more consistent with his overall performances, I would take the money 4-5 mill is not a bad price, next year as we know the championship is a relentless with Saturday- Tuesday plus the cup games Mutch could be injury prone for us next season

I hope he stays but if he does end up going, we should get a decent price for him...
