FAO Mods and Posters: The Altering of Posts and Threads

Sun Jun 01, 2014 1:37 pm

On Sat at 1pm I started a thread under the title: "New City Casual Shirts: A Ghastly Box of Liquorice Allsorts."

I wrote the following: "The lastest fashion (sic) range from the House of Tan's KL Dragons, once formally and proudly known as Cardiff City FC, are shocking. They are like a box of liquorice allsorts. They are ghastly and asolutely devoid of any logic."

Beneath the text I included an attachment featuring the offending advertisement from CCFC.

I also posted the same on CCMB.

I was somewhat surprised today, Sunday, to see that my original post and subsequent thread been deleted and the title used for a post by, 'xcasual,' dated Friday, a day BEFORE my original post. Why?

Plagiarism, though a form of flattery should be avoided.

"Plagiarism, the wrongful appropriation, stealing and publication of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions and the representing them as one's own original work is viewed in academia, industry [and literary circles] as a serious ethical offense and constitutes copyright infringement." [Wikipedia]

I can understand, to an extent, a desire to keep topics together but not to copy/paste others poster's work as somebody else's.

Anyhow, the shirts are still ghastly and like a box of liquorice allsorts.

Many thanks,
StT.

Your post wasn't deleted it was merged with an already existing topic. It's to stop cluttering on the messageboard

PS: My post was included in this new thread but under a different title.

Because it was merged with the thread that was started before it

Ta for your by reply CjBluebird17. I have acknowledged that but had to post it in a new post as the time for editing was over. I know in the scheme of things this is a very small point but could not a way be found to group all posts on the same topic without alterations/ammendments to the original text? Is it a tree view that I am thinking of?

StT.

I can see where your coming but from what I can tell they haven't directly edited anything in your post and even in the merged thread your post will show under your original thread title. A mod will be able to tell you more but I don't think it's been edited directly.

Edit: actually on further look it appears they are using your thread title for the merged thread but it appears as Xcasual's title in the thread.
