' Mats Dæhli once more in the starting lineup vs. Russia

Sat May 31, 2014 8:26 am

Saturday 31st May 2014.

This is the 11 who were being drilled yesterday ahead of Norway - Russia.

Rumoured transfer target for CCFC Vegard Forren is very likely to send Brede Hangeland on the bench. Mats Møller Dæhli is once more destined for the starting lineup, having been along with Ørjan Nyland (goalkeeper) one of few players to look good for spells against France tuesday. If Jarstein ends up playing instead of Nyland (which would be sad) this team sheet contains 5 changes from tuesday's 4-0 loss against France.

--------------Rune Almenning Jarstein / Ørjan Håskjold Nyland
---------André Danielsen, Håvard Nordtveit, Vegard Forren, Tom Høgli
Jone Samuelsen, Stefan Johansen, Ruben Yttergård Jensen, Mats Møller Dæhli
---------------------------Tarik Elyounoussi, Håvard Nielsen

Kickoff at 15:00 UK time today :ole:

No offence but watching you against France Norway are aboaolutly shit.

Your set pieces were diabolical.
You never looked like scoring.
Brede used to be a fantastic defender but now a truck can turn quicker than him.
You seemed to have no style of play at all.

The only points out of that game was Daehli and Tettey(your goalie made a couple of decent save aswell) the rest of the team looked awful.

I know, and I expected it too, given 6+ players were either out of position, second choice or even 3rd / 4th choice players due to a load of injuries, this isn't some 'come see how amazing Norway is with 500 injured players' propaganda campaign, it's news about one of your players in international action. And two of your rumoured transfer targtets (Nyland/ Forren)

Morten Gamst Pedersen injured.

Mohammed Abdellaoue injured, Per Ciljan Skjelbred injured.

Agree, we are undergoing a defensive crisis at the moment but have talents coming up. Against France Håvard Nordtveit even played CB and he's really a DM.

New coach with a diametrically opposite style from the last one. Takes time to drill. At which injuries cycling each squad callup almost 50% from time to time never helps speeding the process.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound offensive but you really were very poor and need a Goalscorer and no offence to Forren but we already have better CB than him. Even with Caulker going Hudson, Cala an Turner are better than him IMO and Conolly is useful as cover. Plus Oshijala is a good young centre back so I think we're fine I. That position all we need is an Enforcer in midfield(any Norwiegens?) and a keeper if Marshall goes( I don't think he will). :ayatollah:

Probably only tettey or Håvard Nordtveit, then again, Nordtveit plays way above championship level already

With both Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Omar Elabdellaoui injured we are totally sh*t to watch.

We outplayed Denmark, Scotland and Czech Republic, but we did not stand a chance against France. As expected.

From what I'm seeing so far, Forren is in another league from Turner. Very good on positioning and playing ball

Yeah but right now he's part of a disorganized defense who haven't been told how they should defend crosses and set pieces. It's an absolute trainwreck. But yes, Forren looks very composed out there. Definite improvement since the last game. Still, we get the feeling new coach Høgmo has barely drilled defense at all.

I am also reading 62% possession for Norway in the 1st half... That's... Interesting. Penetration is still weak, though it seems this midfield is working a lot better now, with a proper right wing in Jone Samuelsen, who's been very good.

Skjelbred is a player I'd love for us to sign if we got promoted

Well, either we improved or Russia is gonna get slaughtered in the WC. And as I suspected, Morten Gamst Pedersen is all we need to get results again. Nobody we could muster up puts in more or better assists.

Vegard Forren MoTM for me.

Too give a little insight on how little the manager value friendly matches we can look at Andre Danielsen and Jone Samulesen.

4 years ago they were the central midfield of Viking. Now they played right back and right wing on the Norwegian national team.

Our U21 team came to the semi final knocking out England and Italy but instead of building on that we use a bunch of 30 year olds in positions they aren`t naturals in.

Training match or not, atleast use players who are worth seeing and the France match was like pissing on the Norwegian flag. Embarrasing.
