SWANSEA KEEN ON TAKING CITY DEFENDER TO LIBERTY

Swansea are keen on a return of former loan star Steven Caulker

The 22-year-old ex-Spurs defender was captain of rivals Cardiff who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Swansea need a central defender with Ashley Williams and Chico Flores set to leave this summer.

Williams is set to leave this summer after talks over a new contract stalled.

The 29-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season and talks over a fresh deal had been ongoing.

But discussions have broken down, with Williams now open to leaving the club ahead of next season.
Williams is understood to have five firm offers on the table, with Arsenal and other top clubs among the interested parties.

I could see this happening as I'd be surprised if he went to Liverpool.
Don't care where he goes as long as we get the right money for him :ole:

I have no problem with him joining the Jacks. It would be a good move for all concerned as long as we hold out for the best possible deal.

It would be easier just to say who he hasn't been linked with :)

Absolutely no chance we'll be paying £10m for him.

You'll have to accept our apology then.

We never realised the final Decison was yours in regards to finances of Swansea City...

How much are you willing to pay?

He's gone backwards in his time at Cardiff so I think 10 mill is a tad ambitious , sir huw will get him for the best possible price 7 mill tops imo

10 mill or f**k off and look elsewhere that's what I'd be saying if I was Tan.

My apologies. I forgot the average IQ of Cardiff fans on this site means it's difficult for you to understand when someone is posting their opinion without actually putting the words "in my opinion" several times in the post rather than actually being the financial director of another club.

I'll take this into account next time :thumbright:

YOUR fault, fella. It certainly looks like a statement to me (and I would be more than happy to compare IQ's if that is how YOU like to measure up)

What did you pay for him 8 ? , He has done nothing this season that would increase what he is worth , lessened it if anything

Why lessened it? :laughing5: He played every game so has much more experience, has captained his club and scored goals, why worth less?? Your going to say next that he was responsible for our relegation :laughing5: :laughing5:

Since when did footballers go for what they are worth? Was Allen worth that much when he left for a Liverpool? :old:

I think using Liverpool as an example of what clubs spend is a bit extreme baz

No it isn't. I'd agree with you that he's probably worth the 8million we paid for him, but that doesn't mean he will go for 8 million, does it?

Since when did footballers go for exactly what they are worth?

He's always been the "2nd" centre back playing next to an established player he was given the main role and did not live up to expectation , if he had shone 10 mill was realistic but nobody will pay that for someone who plays off the main CB , in my opinion of course

How many clubs can you see paying 10 mill for him though mate , apart from Liverpool

Exactly, he is not gonna be interesting to clubs like Chelsea, Manu, man City that have that kind of disposable money. Maybe spurs would but they'll look really stupid if they sell him for 8 mill and buy him back for 10 mill one year later.

And yet YOUR club still want him?? :?

Hmmm, seems like they want to do things "on the cheap" by taking 'chances' on players, if that is your response ;)

I don't think anyone can knock how we do our business in the transfer market do you ? It's not about taking chances it's about value for money , which sir huw is very good at

Agree with you on Huw Jenkins, fella, but my point is that if you are claiming Caulker isn't worth £10m and "did nothing" for us last season, then it sort of suggests that he won't be good enough for your (still) Premier League club, doesn't it?

We paid £8m and the pundits reckon he had a good season (and I agree with that in the main) and got into the thoughts of the England manager for the World Cup, so by default he certainly hasn't gone down in value

If Swansea are to get him back (and I wish him all the very best wherever he goes) then there is a "market value" for UK born players and Caulker is as good as is currently available to buy

The simple fact is that if Swansea really want him, they'll pay the going price (whatever that may be) or, as they have so astutely done before, go into Europe and beyond to unearth another little gem to sell on at profit in a year or two

Best of luck to them with regard to that, but as I said, Caulker is a different kettle of fish; if not only because he is "English"

If he wants to join us then I think we could get him for as low as 5 million.I think he's seeing a Swansea lass studying in Cardiff which is why I heard he made the strange move at the time to Cardiff.OGS won't want an unhappy captain so knowing what Huw is like when it comes to dealing with other clubs, don't be surprised if he joined us for 5-6 million with additional add on's like if he'd win 100 caps for England and score a World cup winner. :laughing6:
