Why are so many people raving over Burgstaller?

Makes me laugh alot of people saying burgstaller whatever his name is, our best signing so far

He might not even make an impact, its not a strong league he plays in, Im not sure his touch is good enough for the championship he's lanky but not fast hes just gangly and doesn't have the best touch or the most accurate passing out there.
half of his best clips on youtube are just him running into defenders and losing the ball ? Bar a few good ones at the beginning is that all they could find in 5/6 seasons ??

sorry but you cant do that in the championship That's how you lose games - you can get away with it in the swiss league or wherever it is he plays but we cant get away with players making to many bad passes or losing the ball.

I think he's a very useful league one player - but at this point still a massive gamble - one that hopefully works out for us

I cant help but feel bringing the 3 norway lads in was half motivated by ole's passion to help the national team develop.
Or maybe he wanted daelhi to be settled and at 18 bringing team mates would prevent him from being homesick - and he gambled on the possibility the other 2 potentially might cut it at this level

It's seems a lot like the Acorn deal to me, everyone raving about him without actually seeing them play.

How many people on here can actually say they've watched this guy play for a full 90? I know I can't and do judge a player on you tube clips is pointless in my opinion.

As another poster has said, I will save my judgement of him untill I have seen him play, hopefully he is good, it does sound promising from some of the things I have read about him.

Surely this is what being a fan is all about?

Getting excited at new signings, unrealistic expectations, insane theories, totally biased views.

He is 6.1 not lanky, a good height for a striker.
He does have pace and is not gangly.
Austria have a good national team and he is deemed good enough to be in it.
We will have to wait and see but I suspect he will do well for Cardiff.

I havent seen many people raving about him, maybe being optimistic and taking positives from the youtube clips but not raving. To be fair unless anyone watches the Austrian League regularly then highly doubt anyone knows anything about him, I know I don't. I'm just going to wait and see what he's all about and give him a chance like the rest of our new players.

Really doubt daehli needs other Norwegians to hold his hand, he went to Manchester at 15 didn't he? So he is used to living abroad briitish culture and the lot.
If he bought players to elevate the national team then it backfired, eikrem has been dropped from the national team since coming here.

I honestly think he really thought eikrem could do a job, he put him straight into the team as I remember while daehli had to play for the dvp, had something like 10 games as a sub before he got a chance to start. For some reason he thought Eikrem was ready to go straight into the team and Daehli wasn't.

Acorn was another level of expectations haven't seem anything like that with re to burgstaller.
To me he looks like the kind of player we were sorely lacking. We don't really have a typical winger bar noone. Time will tell if he makes an impact.

hes from a poor league and at an established age with two caps.

we have a notorious track record of signing oversees players while at championship level.

if anything you need to wake up and smell the coffee im being realistic about this its a gamble and one im not expecting to shine more of a bonus if he does shine

The majority of players that we have signed that weren't of UK origin have proved to be astute signings Just look at the likes of Vidmar and Loovens.

We certainly don't have a track record of signing overseas players..... certainly not a notorious one.

What are you basing this logic on? You say the Austrian league and players are poor compared to championship but what do you base this assumption on? Do you regularly watch the Austrian league?

From memory he's joined up with the Austrian squad for their game against Iceland tonignt. Live on Eurosport UK may be a better option for me than England Peru

Give the boy a chance FFS. Personally I haven't seen anyone say he's our best signing. I don't think he cost very much so not really a massive gamble.

Looks a tidy player, has reasonable stats and he's a bit of a lump. Perfect.

even the posters defending him on this thread can hardly be accused of bigging him up........its lets wait and see......i think even the most positive posters learned a lesson last year..........
