' Arsenal and Spurs in battle for City Star '

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a move for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall in the summer, according to the reports in the Telegraph.
The Scottish international enjoyed a brilliant season with the Bluebirds, in spite of the club being relegated from the Premier League.
Fabianski, who started Arsenal’s FA Cup final win over Hull City, is set to leave the club on a free in the summer after rejecting a contract extension. It leaves Arsene Wenger in need of a new back-up goalkeeper to provide cover and competition for Wojciech Szczesny.
The report suggests that the Gunners are set to make a surprise move to try to sign Marshall from under the noses of north London rivals Tottenham. The Welsh club value Marshall at around £15 million, but that price tag has not put off Arsenal from targeting the experienced keeper as a replacement for Lukasz Fabianski.
It further states that Wenger has also considered Reading’s Alex McCarthy as his new deputy, but Marshall is emerging as Arsenal’s top target to replace Fabianski and the club are set to firm up their interest with Cardiff.
The Gunners are ahead of Tottenham in terms of making a move because Spurs have not given up hope of keeping Hugo Lloris, while Liverpool are very much in the periphery despite also declaring an interest in the stopper.
The 29 year old began his career with Scottish champions Celtic but later moved to Cardiff for just £500,000, where he has cemented himself as the team’s first choice goalkeeper. He recently signed a long-term contract which has enforced Cardiff’s asking-price of £15 million.
He pulled out some excellent saves consistently for the side, keeping his team in tight games and limiting the damage when Cardiff were getting battered. There is absolutely no doubting that Marshall is more than good enough to play in the Premier League and with some additional guidance could be one of the division’s best.
His acquisition will sufficiently cover for Fabianski while he will compete with Szczesny to further push him for a place. However £15 million is a bit high for a player who could well ride the bench, but keeping Szczesny on his toes would make that outcome worth the money too. The most positive result would be to see the club have two top-class goalkeepers under its command, or else is it settles for one improved alternative.

David Marshall will become one of the most expensive goalkeepers ever to be involved in a transfer move, should Arsenal follow up their supposed £15m bid for the Scot.
Marshall was sublime in Cardiff City’s miserable Premier League campaign last season, and was the divisions most worked keeper having made 153 saves.
His form has seen him linked with some top Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal supposedly chasing the 29-year-old.
With a reported price-tag of £15 willing to be paid by Arsenal, it would mean that Marshall would become the fifth most expensive goalkeeper in football history. But who are the others? We take a look at the other priciest shot-stoppers.

Marshall, goes with my blessing (if he leaves that is) he deserves to be plying his trade in the premiership, a top, top goalkeeper although he could still improve on coming out for crosses, but there is no way he is worth £15 million and nobody will pay anywhere near that for him, maybe £6-8 million is more realistic.
