im quite excited by guerro macheda and le fondre all proven scorers and diffrent types of players but still none of these come close to nicky maynard imo the guys proven 25 goals a season twice yet either he turns into kenwyn work ethic in training or im misding something here we really need to give nicky a run at the start of the season 5 or 6 games the guys a beast

Simple fact is he had a serious injury (for the 2nd time) that needed him to get game time to prove his sharpness.
If he can get back to the player he was when we signed him then he has a part to play, however, until then he has to prove his ability. I don't think anyone could blame Malky or OGS for not picking him last year because he simply wasn;'t ready.
Let's hope that he's flying after a full pre-season !!

not convinced about this fella, seems to be injured or out of form quite a bit.........scored 20 in his second season at Bristol but that was 2009 /10 season..aint done anything of note since tbh...........obviously i would prefer you to be correct though.......

fair points guys I just think in a tidy team he will thrive and he deserves a chance as pre injury the few games he played he looked class

Maynards never scored 25 or more in a season in his whole professional career. Id sell him.

I agree that Nicky Maynard needs to be given a chance next season. I hope Solskjaer keeps him as he is quality at this level. I would be extremely happy with Guerra, Macheda, Le Fondre and Maynard as our striking options next season. Then if any of those get injured then we should give Healey a chance. I think we should cash in on Campbell, Mason, Jones and get rid of Velikonja and any other striker they deem to be surplus to requirements. I think we should keep hold of Berget and give him a chance as he can play in a few positions. I would love us to sign Raoul Loe as Gary Medel's replacement but with Premiership teams interested in him then i doubt we will get a chance to get him. Add Loe or another combative midfielder like him, a right sided winger - or give Kadeem Harris a chance - 2 DCs, one to replace Caulker and another one better than Turner, another LB and a keeper to replace Marshall - hopefully Kieron Westwood - then i think we will have a good enough squad to get promoted again. Whatever happens this summer, i am really looking forward to next season. I think i prefer Championship football than Premiership football, as i have always been a big fan of the lower leagues.

Sell Maynard
And guerra is definetly better than him and le Fondre is probably about the same level but isn't injury prone.
Macheda is young and has height something the rest of our strikers lack apart from Jones of course but the less said about him the better!

Le Fondre has scored goals at PL level and Maynard hasn't. Was a huge fan of Maynard whilst at BCFC and before we signed strikers wouldn't have minded keeping him but with his likely wages, age and history of injuries and our huge strikeforce it's probably best we let him seek pastures new.

i would sell too, i think both West Ham and ourselves paid too much for him.............20 goals in 4 seasons is poor

6 goals in 3 seasons suggests not. Maynard used to be good but now he's shit, that's the reason he has hardly played in the prem with west ham and cardiff, no point keeping someone who will be no use if we get promoted.

A fit Maynard would our best striker next season
Wed May 28, 2014 4:50 pm
Javi Guerra 15 goals in La Liga for a relegated side. Could Maynard do that even in his prime? Doubt it.

I just hope all this firepower is used properly. For me, Campbell and Maynard are decent strikers but you can't expect to hoof the ball for them to chase, and score every time... Same with the new signings.

I agree. If we sell him he would defo come back and bite us on the arse. Keep him Ole

hopefully the new influx of new strikers doesn't signal the end of joe masons time with us. I rate him highly and personally feel he is better than maynard at this point of their careers and will score for fun at championship level
Feel for nicky maynard though, injury problems probably mean hell never fulfill his potential

How is he supposed to score from the physio's table ???
Wed May 28, 2014 5:42 pm
The injuries have caught up with him and he doesn't look like the player he was at Bristol.

Probably, but I haven't followed his loan spell, but that's where he has spent most of the last few seasons........

Only once has Maynard scored more than 20 goals in a season, when he finished as second highest goal scorer with 20 to Whittingham's 22 (2009/10). Perhaps you should suggest playing Whitts as the striker instead? Guerra and Le Fondre are far better and Macheda has far more potential.

He's been injured if he never got injured in our promotion season we would of added 10-15 points to our tally. He was a top top player.
He's now put on more weight and their are question over his sharpness - if he has a good pre-season he could prove real quality
Thu May 29, 2014 3:58 pm
Id be more than happy to take the chance on him and take a view in Jan.
then agaian, none of us see him in training day in day out
