We needed two strikers the day we got promoted and we bought one pup.

We didn't have enough quality throughout the team, every time we went for it, teams ripped us apart.

It will be different in the Championship, will have one of the best squads in the League.

You cannot compare team set ups and tactics for two completely different leagues.

All out attack in the Prem, with the team we had, would have seen us punished on the counter attack every time we failed to score. In the Championship this will not be the case as the quality of the opposition will be less.

Our poor striking options was obvious long before Christmas when Acorn was injured and we panicked bought Odemwingie.

it might have helped if we played Chicken Wingie in his correct position, as proved when he banged them in for Stoke.

It's not as easy to make big changes in January.

What people forget. Time and time and time again is that we never set up of all attack. We set up for possession build up attack. Unfortunately we are not good enough to play 10 men defence, and didn't get any better playing any different styles.
If we might have scored on our chances, we might not have been trailing goals in every match and had to push forward.
Very strange this perception of all out attack

It was obvious from christmas in the CHAMPIONSHIP that we needed goal scorers, then when promoted look what happened, malky (with the exception of one or two) brought in a load of sh*t including paying £10 million for a cart horse (acorn) and went on to blow a £50 million transfer budget. Ole tried to sign guerra in january and even waited until the end of the window for him to come but he decided to stay in spain and help is club in a relegation battle, if he had come to us instead he just might have got the goals to keep us up.

the most disappointing things for me when Ole arrived..were the swap deal........{ i too would have gone with PO.}...and i thought Velikonja might be given some sort of chance............

yeah cos its so easy to get two proven goal scorers at prem level in the jan transfer window with a seriously limited amount of cash to spend...

I love the way people are thinking we have gone attack mad and seen a fb joke about us playing 2-2-6 etc.

Its obvious he is going to strengthen other areas of the field but upfront had to be the priority. We have struggled upfront pretty much the entire time Malky was manager. Upfront needed a complete overhaul.

:thumbright:

The only time we sometimes went all out attack was because we were suffering as a result of the reasons you've explained. That's exactly my take on Ole's tenure so far. It was a lack of quality in the squad more than anything else. Ole actually played the right tactics!

He is addressing issues step by step, going attacking to defence.

If it was the other way around people would complain we ain't signed attackers, no pleasing some.
