Wales and Arsenal FA cup hero Aaron Ramsey to undergo surgery on troublesome thigh injury - reports
Ramsey was sidelined for three months earlier in the season because of a thigh problem he picked up against West Ham
Wales star Aaron Ramsey is facing summer surgery on the thigh problem that curtailed his season with Arsenal, according to reports.
The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Ramsey will see a specialist to investigate the injury to ensure there is no repeat of his three-month lay-off in the middle of the Gunners' 2013/14 campaign.
Ramsey is believed to have suffered pain in his thigh even before he limped out of Arsenal's Boxing Day win over West Ham with a grade two thigh strain.
He then aggravated a tendon in his thigh when he returned to training in late January and did not return to the Arsenal team until early April.
Ramsey was the outstanding performer in the Arsenal team prior to his injury with a glut of early-season goals including the winner in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
He returned towards the back end of the campaign and scored the extra-time winner for Arsenal against Hull City in the FA Cup final less than a fortnight ago.
The Mail reported that Arsene Wenger is keen his midfield lynchpin is fit and firing at the start of next season and the club will act upon any recommendations made by the specialist.
But news of any surgery for Ramsey will come as a concern to Chris Coleman as Wales look to build their 2016 European Qualification campaign - starting against Andorra in September - around Ramsey and Gareth Bale.
Arsenal rewarded Ramsey with a bumper new contract in March while he was out with injury, which came less than 18 months after he had extended his Gunners agreement until 2018.

He's not having much luck is he?
Couple of bright sides though, Arsenal wouldn't have given a new contract in March if there was any danger that the thigh problem was too serious, and Coleman was saying in an interview the other day that Ramsey was off for the whole Summer because he needed it. I presume that Coleman was in the know about the op, and he said that it was with a view to the September matches.
Good luck to the lad, cracking player.

He is a fantastic player. I feel he will be like a Byan Robson though, very committed works hard and consequently injury prone so will spend many months a season injured.....

It's probably not a surgery he needs, although it will help in the long run. If it does go ahead I can't see him missing the start of the season, if he does it will only be a few games.
Look at Torres, he had constant trouble with his knees at one point, since the surgery he hasn't had one knee injury. Good luck Rambo

Please ignore any stories about me needing surgery. They are completely false. I'm enjoying my summer and already can't wait for pre-season.

Yeah and look how Torres has played since they "fixed" him. I bet he'd prefer to play 30 games a season and score 20 goals than 60 and score 10.
