' MACHEDA AND CAMPBELL '

Cardiff City are expected to sign former Manchester United striker Federico Macheda on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old Italian striker is available after being released from Old Trafford.

Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coached Macheda in the reserve side at United, before he broke into the Reds first team as a 17-year-old.

Macheda spent last season on loan at Championship side Birmingham, scoring 10 goals in 18 appearances.

The former Lazio youth player became an instant Old Trafford hero when he scored a stunning injury-time winner on his debut against Aston Villa in April 2009.

But despite that early success, Macheda has struggled to claim a regular first-team place at Old Trafford in recent seasons and has spent time on loan in Germany with Stuttgart and in his native Italy with Sampdoria, plus spells with Queens Park Rangers and Doncaster Rovers.

Macheda is set to be Solskjaer's third signing this summer, with the Bluebirds having already recruited Spanish striker Javi Guerra, 32, and Austrian midfielder Guido Burgstaller, 25.

' Fraizer Campbell '

But Cardiff are playing down reports of a bid from Leicester City for striker Fraizer Campbell, with Solskjaer keen for the 26-year-old to remain at the Cardiff City stadium.

Campbell, signed from Sunderland in January 2013 for £650,000, has a release clause in his contract following Cardiff's relegation from the Premier League.

Macheda, Guerra, Campbell, Maynard, Mason, Jones, Healy, Velikonja, Berget and then sign Grabban. Stick Marshall in goal and ten up front!

Glad we're going for Macheda. 10 goals in 18 games is good form :ayatollah:

Personally think Macheda can score goals for us as from what I've seen of him he can be quality, but would question his off field attitude as think he could be high maintenance and have to control him as fergie had problems with him. I feel he could be another Ravel Morrison / Nile Ranger / WilfredZaha type bad boy (wanna be). Think it just depends on weather Olecan handle his temperament.

We are going back home to The Championship and IMO think he could do a good job for us at that level..

Story: Daily Express

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has targeted former Manchester United wonderkid Federico Macheda to fill the void left by Craig Bellamy.

The 22-year-old, who was tipped for big things at Old Trafford, is out of contract this summer and the Bluebirds have enquired about his services.

Looks like a few strikers will be leaving this summer. Maynard and Mason most likely.

Macheda has a better goals per game ratio in English Football than Fraizer Campbell.....

18 games is a very small portion.
Campbell in the championship is about as good and he has a better work ethic

alot of these kids think they are invincible and their lifestyle and work ethic catches up with them as early as mid 20's in some cases
