' OLE'S STYLE FOR NEXT SEASON '

Sun May 25, 2014 8:29 pm

Going on the signings Ole has made so far and the probable imminent signing of Macheda, it is safe to say Ole has highlighted that goals are the priority to our campaign next season.

If indeed that is the tactic it will probably be in stark contrast to the style of Malky, the Scot went for 'Safety Only' not even 'Safety First' , but that style of of play under Mackay had obvious success in the Championship.

Now if we go for goals, goals, goals under Ole, do you think that style of play, considering we are likely to concede a fair share too, will be successful in our attempt to gain promotion ?

If nothing else, it should be fun to watch.

The good old Alan Cork days.
You score 4 we will score 5

He certainly seems to be answering a need we've needed for the last 2 seasons, good to see. As for our defence, I'll wait a while before deciding if he's neglecting the defence, there's a long time before the season starts, definitely think we'll need another CB if Caulker goes.

Depends if we get a new CB, we definitely need a CB. Also depends on what full-backs we play, if we play wing-backs then we will concede a lot of goals but also score a lot

I think whatever happens Carl we have needed a goal scorer from when Maynard did his cruciate. Although Malky got us promoted we had the unusual stat of 10 players scoring 4 goals or more but no one getting into double figures.
One thing is for certain if ole does have a cavalier goal scoring approach we will not get punished defensively the way we were in the premiership and as you say at least it will be decent to watch.

His Molde side of 2012/13 when they won the league conceded 31 in 30 games. Which sounds poor for the league winners but it was the lowest of all teams in the league. Can't really put that in comparison with the championship but hey ho

To get promotion any team will need at least 4 quality strikers in the squad

Re: ' OLE'S STYLE FOR NEXT SEASON '

It's gotta be defence as well as attack....all the top managers will tell you that. Some of the goals conceded last year were shocking, as well as goals against statistics. Look at that Championship for the upcoming season....strong teams there who will be just as hungry as Cardiff to come up and we are going to need a solid defence and one that needs sorting out even if we don't lose any of the current bunch (which we will of course-Caulker being the main one)

Maybe ole is going for the strikers early to avoid the scramble for them later on, he'll get to the defence

The fact 3 signings could be in before June is brilliant.

I trust Ole as he found a gem in Cala and Fabio.

I was on about the defence part but agreed a gem with Matts.

Oh right :), I agree I've liked Cala since his first game dunno what it is about him, Fabio had a rough start but found his form in the end he suits ole style of play perfectly

All i want is to watch good football that gets you on the edge of your seat now and again whatever league we are in..
I don't ever want to watch cardiff city play the malky type way ever again it was the worse i have witnessed in 30 or so years..

Even after winning games i used to be driving home saying the game was dreadful to watch .
Ole now has time to sort out the squad and get them playing football i think this will be the best season football wise in years :ayatollah: :ole:

Would be great to see us being dangerous on the counter attack.

Re: ' OLE'S STYLE FOR NEXT SEASON '

Even if Caulker goes we will still have Hudson, Cala, Turner and Nugent on the books - a decent book of Centre halves for the Championship. Assuming Medel goes, I'd like a midfield enforcer a bit like Cattermole from Sunderland to play in front of the back 4 :ole:

I agree with the replies of wanting to watch entertaining and exciting football, and Malky's tactics were not either but they were effective in the Championship.

I hope I am wrong but to go from such a defensive style to attack free flowing football is a massive turnaround and to see it implemented and be successful in one championship season will be extremely tough and I have doubts whether we can do both if either.

I suspect if Ole is given the time then it will be a couple if seasons of tinkering with the squad and playing style before we could ever witness this champagne style football that we suspect Ole is going for.

I do hope we're more attacking, however the defence needs a big shake up. The goals we leaked this season were awful

Agree Carl but I think the same sort of thing happened with the jacks when they went from a defence minded manager in Sousa to a more attack minded one in Rogers, so it can be done (although I'm not comparing ole to Brenda)

I wouldnt say bad defending is a style of play. 3 new defenders needed !

' OLE'S STYLE FOR NEXT SEASON '............ Swap the side with three to four diffrent players every week and defend while trying to hit on the break....like last season :bluescarf:

Brayford Hudson Cala Fabio - 1st choice

McNaughton Connolly turner John - 2nd choice

KTC and Taylor can leave

Does anybody know yet what Oles management style is tactics wise ? I still cant work him out. Yes we know he tinkers the team a lot, but he also tinkered with the formation a lot aswell. 4-5-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 ? I really havnt got a clue of what hes looking at doing next season. To me with all these strikers he might be looking at a 3 pronged attacking 4-3-3, but that will leave the likes of Noone, Harris etc unable to fit into the system. Unless hes changing home and away formations as we saw last season at times.

His tactics may be to change the whole 11 from one game to the next!! Wouldn't be surprised.

it may be had to turn around the style that was used by malky but with his own players it's relatively easier for ole, hence the changes he is making already. wether it Will work time will tell .
