Hibernian relegated

Sun May 25, 2014 8:09 pm

Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian, and Rangers all in the second level of Scottish football next season. Funny old game! Some great games, and pay days, for the other clubs, though.

I've been slated by both sets of fans in the past for not being part of the welsh premier division.

Feeling quite smug knowing they're no longer in the Scottish premier league

I also let them know we were relegated to the tune of £68m.

I can't believe they had terry butcher to manage them when he played for rangers he was so antie Celtic. Because of there catholic background hibs are the same as Celtic not trying to start a religious argument here but hibs and rangers detest each other I watched the second half hibs were shocking and they do have a few decent players I be surprised if he wil stil be there for nest season what a league that's going to be next season

Hibs are not the same as Celtic.
The religious element isn't prominent at Easter Road as it is at Parkhead.

Religion isn't prevalent at Celtic Park. An undertone of politics maybe.

Hibs season ticket holder here.

As correctly stated, if the Jambos didn't have the points deduction we would have been down anyway. The Hearts played with pride and passion and beat us pretty much every game. Hibs are awful and fully deserve to be relegated, it's really painful to watch especially after watching City for years in the Championship and premier league. To go from that to watching by far the worst team in the SPL is where you see the huge gap in quality. The SPL is the equivalent of league one at best.

Huge changes needed at Hibs, in my opinion Butcher as taken us backwards. We were 2-0 up from the first leg (2 wins in 18 games is why we were in the playoff in the first place) and he played 1 up too and tried to defend the whole game. Went 1-0 down and we were just booting the ball up to the lone striker who is not a target man. Totally clueless.

The rot is deep at easter road and needs to be sorted from the top Down. Petrie has doomed the club, it has no soul. We will struggle to get back out of the Championship in my opinion. The fans always back the club. Sold out yesterday for a relagation playoff. HIbs is a massive club, great stadium, traning complex etc. Team is awful though. Huge changes needed.

Correct. A world of difference. Hibs founded by Irishmen in Edinburgh but you wont hear any religious/political stuff at all from any fans. A million miles away from the Old firm.

And I'm sure if it wasn't for Hibs Celtic wouldn't even exist? Was the club not started by people who wanted a Hibernian in Glasgow and even adopted the green and white colours? Hibs altered their kit to distance themselves from a likeness?

Re: Hibernian relegated

I believe this is accurate. The Irish in Glasgow wanted something similar to Hibs. In fact I believe it was around this time the Hibs were wearing green & white hoops

Hibs turned out when we went up there for a friendly a few years ago fair play

Capital city service crew mate. Don't know a lot about them myself but I understand they have given a few teams issues in the past!

when up there, normally drink with a few of them on easter rd in the iona bar.had a few free tjckets of them for quite a few games over the years. ;)

Hibs were beaten by a team that had a boy who spent three years at Clydebank.

Never learned lessons from previous relegation.

Three "big" clubs in Scottish Championship, at best one of them is going to be there for two years.

We will be down there for a while. Can't see us getting back up any time soon, especially with Butchers ancient style is hoof ball. Only way back is is if we start playing better football with players suited to the style.

If Butcher is backed and can root out the rubbish I think he'll do a job. The problems were there long before Terry & co rolled in. The previous relegation galvanised the club, it's just a pity they've let themselves fall back into the trap.

Im sure Butcher got relegated with Caley Thistle, rebuilt them and ended up back in the top flight knocking on the door for european football. Maybe its just how he rolls

That's what happened. He has to shoulder some of the blame for going down but now he can build his own team. Too much dead wood at Hibs on the performances I saw. They'll be back.

John Collins asked Petrie for funds for players a few years back.
Thought to be around about £1m in total and Petrie rejected it.

So it's safe to say Butcher won't be backed to the hilt.
He will be expected to nurture and bring through the talent  at the club.
