Never mind Roathie, Guerra's deal worries

Wed May 21, 2014 9:48 pm

Never mind Roathie, Guerra's deal worries me!

He signed the pre-contract in January.

We were in The Premier League then.

The associated costs would reflect him joining us in The Premier League.

Although, as OGS points out, he can't welch on the deal which he describes as "watertight", why is this?

So has he been tricked into signing? I don't think so.
How can you get someone to sign a pre-contract, not knowing if PL football is a certainty? ANSWER: £££££££££££££££££

I bet why he has been guaranteed his his salary.

We are trying to trim the spending this year if possible, so hope I'm wrong, but is this a luxury at a premium price?

The one thing we really got wrong last year was in overspending on players who turned out to be unsuitable.

Are we ignoring the events of history, thereby condemning ourselves to repeat them?

Please no!!!

What worries me is the loss we took on Acorn, and from the rumors Medel, Caulker and Cambell have release clauses in their contract. If we take losses on them to we could be talking some serious money. From what i have seen from Guerra in la liga this year, he is a good investment for us to get back up. But loosing money on players when we have achieved nothing is more worrying.

I agree totally! This is the fall-out from last year really.

What I'm pointing out is that we are in danger of doing the same thing again. Guerra is a great player, no doubt about that. My concern is that we are throwing money at the problem again. I will be really interested to find out his terms.

Wez you are talking too much sense. Woody Willie sounds like a Jack to me! Possibly the red shirt eater himself.

Im sure it will be posted here soon enough. But ive read somewhere the club is looking to reduce cost (think it was in the Ole "trilogy") and its the only sensible thing to do, big time. But if to spend any money, please let it be on a striker and a big fighter with pace in midfield :ayatollah:

Probably make a loss on me model. can't see us making a loss on caulker... At the very least we will get what we payed for him, as for acorn.... Did we pay the whole of the transfer fee up front? Wouldn't surprise me if we only payed maybe half up front and the rest depending on apearences ect....well that's what you'd expect a club to do when paying a big transfer fee on a relatively unknown player anyway lol

What are you on??
You are right, Wez is talking sense and I just acknowledged that. The only place you'll see me wear a red shirt is dressed as Father Christmas mate. I certainly wouldn't eat one! Just because someone expresses a concern on here, doesn't mean it's a troll or an Aussie expert.
Have a look at my previous posts. All I do is give honest feedback. I don't follow the crowd on everything, except Crdiff belong in BLUE.

End of chat.

He's a quality player who could fit into plenty of sides so why is he coming to Cardiff especially now we've been relegated, only answer is money and plenty of it.Hopefully he can score the goals to get us promoted.

Have a look at a previous post from Wez. He's heard that the wages aren't that extravagant (20k / week). If so, happy days! :thumbright:

That's probably a "given", but money well spent as it will affect results and motivate him.

The one thing about medel is that his fee got higher the more appearances he made and bonuses for staying in the premier league so even if we got six million for him we would probably be saving the same amount.

There is no point worrying about our finances, it went past that stage a long time ago.

What u all seem to be forgetting is the fact that this guy plays in the spanish sey up with sun on his back year round.
The prem is a hard place to come for over seas players let alone the champ.
Add to all that if he will fit into the way u play and the champ is one of the toughest leagues to get out of with lots of quality teams but allso lots of teams that will kick him about.
You may pay a lot of money on a untried player who will nerd a season just to adapt.
Better going for players tried and tested in the champ or players from league 1 hungry for a crack in the champ.

Well tried and used to it?

What, like Michu, Cañas, Amat, Pozuello and of course Bony!!!

Ok so they joined you in Prem but were untried in this country.

The prem is glamorous wile the cham is not.
The champ is a hard league to step into if u have never played in this country.
But hey u all know best hey.
Made some great yop draw signings for your only season in the prem.
Even talk of top 10 and there was genuine excitement at the signing of that cart hourse from Denmark.
