Apparently with him making a few conditions. One of them being no interference from Alex Ferguson. He won't take no shit that's for sure, and any player that gets above his station will no doubt be shown the door. Just the type of manager they need in my opinion, already he's stamping his authority... Something Moyes failed to do

The reports of how much depth he goes into peoples personal lives about their off the pitch antics - I can see him really rustling with a few peoples egos.

But definitely the authority needed.

A good choice IMO

He is a fantastic, no nonsense manager. After the mess that was the Moyes appointment where players were upset with him and not wanting to play for him they need someone like LVG who will give them a kick up the arse that they need.

Think they will finish top 4 next season.

I can see him signing some big players in the summer to get them back fighting for the title. Ole should use his utd connections and sign Tom Lawrence on loan.

Ryan giggs retires from playing football. Love him or hate, what a career he's had.

Van gaal is big on promoting youth players. Don't know if Lawrence is quite up to that standard yet so maybe we are in with a chance though. Would probably prefer Wilson though out of their youth players, he guarantees goals on any level.

Ryan Giggs will develop into a world class coach under the guidance of newly-appointed Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, according the Dutchman’s former assistant.

Van Gaal, who was officially unveiled as the Red Devils’ new head coach on Monday, will begin work at Old Trafford after the World Cup, as the club aim to bounce back from their miserable season under axed chief David Moyes.

After announcing his retirement as a player, it was confirmed United legend Giggs will remain at the club as the Netherlands coach’s No.2, and Raymond Verheijen, who has previously worked with the Dutch international team, believes Giggs is a “lucky guy” to be working with the manager.

Top bosses Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho both honed their trade under Van Gaal’s stewardship during his time as Barcelona manager, and Verheijen believes Giggs will reap the same benefits that could catapult him into management superstardom.

“One of Van Gaal’s qualities is that he can actually transfer his knowledge and experience onto other people,” he told Kick Off.

“A lot of coaches and managers talk a lot but are not really clear, that’s not the case with Louis, he has very clear communication and coaching skills.

“Ryan Giggs is a very lucky guy I can tell you. Pep Guardiola has experienced it, Jose Mourinho has experienced it and now Giggs is going to experience it.

“He already has potential himself of course, but working with Louis van Gaal in the coming years will give him that kick start in his own managerial career.

“Van Gaal is very hands-on and he’s one of the best coaches actually on the pitch I’ve ever worked with.

“I’ve never seen another coach that has improved a team in one session. He’s very impressive.”

Good appointment for United, they'll be back in the top 4 in no time.
