Cheers AJ, I got up early hours this morning to watch this 'spectacle'.

I was genuinely excited at seeing an event that was dubbed 'light years beyond anything you have seen before!', but I was left disappointed and in all honestly pissed right off.

The concept is great and like MJ himself pioneering the music industry, I thought that it was fitting MJ was being recognised and his legacy continues.

But as soon as the curtains raised to show 'MJ' sitting on the throne I recognised immediately that it was not a hologram of Michael Jackson but it was an impersonator, what was the point of having a hologram of an impersonator ?

Fantastic that Michael Jackson's music was given such a slot and promotion and to the many of thousands who will eat hit but are not avid obsessive Michael Jackson fans I dare say they will not notice but to the hard core fan it is instantly recognisable.

If the impersonator danced like him it would be something.

I seen clips and didn't really pick up on an impersonator.

That's Shocking.

I saw a 30 second clip via Instagram and uploaded the link for yourself despite not actually watching it.

I'm guessing there's been some sort of backlash to this?

They already did the whole "hologram" thing with Tupac a couple of years ago.

Edit: I'm enjoying MJ's new album though some decent stuff he still had knocking around before he died

I have not looked at the web today until this thread AJ tbh, but when you are dealing with an icon such as MJ, there can be no short cuts, it has to be the real deal or don't bother.

Michael Jackson made his videos a visual art, a short film, he wouldn't even refer to them as videos, he was striving to better the previous one and continually pushed the boundaries so when the estate of Michael Jackson chooses to use a hologram of an impersonator is beyond belief.

They did and it was announced that this hologram would go further than the Tupac one, it didn't come close to be fair.

The cgi was shocking and with the images and 3D sculptures available of Michael Jackson a lot more could have been done.

I was expecting much more.

Shame really. I've felt since his death they haven't really handled his legacy right

The first posthumous album 'Michael', was shocking, they used a singer on a few of the songs who sounded like MJ.

At least the music on the new album 'Xscape' is all Michael's lyrics and if you buy the deluxe edition you get to hear the 8 tracks as their demos as well as Timbalands and LA Reid's mixes.

On the subject of impersonators I remember Mj,s first concert at Cardiff arms park. A couple of the songs including I'll be there Michael could not sing the high notes so he stepped back and another singer stepped forward and filled in for him. Spoilt the concert for me and a few days later I saw prince at wembley arena and as a performer that concert was a class above Michael jacksons

Steve on I'll be there there is a bridge in the song that Jermain Jackson sang so when it came to singing it live in a MJ concert Darryl Phinnessee takes on Jermain's lyrics.

It has nothing to do with MJ not being able to sing the high notes Steve

he cut the concert short by half an hour as well carl and if my sister had been able to get hold of his knackers he would have reached every high note possible
