' Manchester United & Liverpool bid for Cardiff City star '

I'm not sure if Caulker is good enough for Liverpool or Manchester United, Opinions?

Or did we just make him not look that good the way we played last season

Its going to be a bidding war with Spurs and Southampton also interested in Caulker

Transfer Talk: ' Manchester United, Liverpool Bid for Steven Caulker '

TEHRAN (FNA)- Manchester United and Liverpool will submit bids for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker this weekend.

22-year-old Caulker joined Cardiff City on a permanent deal last summer in a move estimated to be around £8m, yet his future at the club is now uncertain after the Welsh side were relegated from the Premier League, Football Direct News reported.

The former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back has impressed this season, with some media men calling for him to be selected for England's World Cup side.

That has led a number of top English clubs to show interest, with former club Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool all credited with interest.

And, it is understood that the latter two will submit bids for Caulker over the weekend, prompting a head-to-head battle this summer for the services of the centre-back.

Both United and Liverpool are keen to improve their defensive options this summer and push the likes of Manchester City for the title next season.

Caulker is not a van Gaal player. Not in a billion years

To much responsibility was put on a 21yr old's shoulders , it was appalling management to bring in a relatively inexperienced player to a club newly promoted to the premier league and make him captain and defensive leader
Caulker is going to have a very long and successful career , McKay totally Ballsed this up imo

He's a very good centre half.

Brave, strong, awesome in the air, decent ball skills and reasonable reading of the game.

His weakness is backing off and slow on the turn.

However he's still young and has the potnetial to be a top player.

Saying that I'm not really imprrssed with what man u and Liverpool have and think he's got a good chance of forcing his way into their starting XI. IMHO he's better than Skirtel and Aggar for a start.

If we do end up selling I just hope we don't let him go unless we get a real good offer as in nothing less than 12 mill.

Same as above, too much pressure on some one who's only 21 to captain a team for their first year in the premier league. Think he would be a good signing for the likes of maybe everton, southampton even in a lesser role. Liverpool, Utd though? No.

A lot of bollox being posted here.Premier league managers know what they want. What we want is a humongus bidding war as he's a very good british centre half.

I doubt we'll have much say in how much he goes for, I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a fairly lowrelease clause in his contract.

a move to Southampton would be a perfect one for him i think

He has been a little disappointing to be honest maybe that's just my expectations.

As Paul said someone like Southampton would be ideal for him. Manu already have smalling and Jones who aren't quite good enough and Caulker would just add to that.

Thought he started off well but deteriorated, probably linked to the fact he was captain of a side that was struggling. Didn't seem comfortable with having a go at players when they underperformed.

If they don't want to play for us, let them go, he's overrated and overpaid.

When I saw the headline, I got worried that it was Daehli they were coming in for....Caulker is good but too lightweight and goes missing too many times to be a top premier player. He isn't a natural leader either.
