The two Reds that will see the death of our once proud Club

Fri May 16, 2014 2:42 pm

When the re brand first came about there was those that saw Tans vision and others that could see what was to lie ahead. Some saw 100 million, the Premiere.

Some even had dreams of cracking the top four. What they didn't see was 150 million in debt no debt to equity, identity stripped, relegation.

Now when all this happened I can't say it hit me hard because I expected it. Yes Steve Tucker is right and it's the two Reds that will be the death of our once proud Club. And that is the debt and the colour of our shirts.
What will the future hold ? My fear is obscurity.

Yes we should really be thanking Vincent Tan shouldn't we ? :(

As someone said "careful what you wish for". That is what is going to cause our death.

We''re no better off now than we were in 2012, what a waste of time.

I agree with Pembroke Alan, the situation was far worse when we were being threatened with being wound up by HMRC.When the re-brand happened most of us went along with it because what was promised was financial stability and big investment, look at the transfer budget given to Malky Makay, it was way beyond what any previous manager had before.
I believe that if we had not been relegated then all this animosity between ourselves and Tan would not have arisen, you have to ask questions of Malky with the players he brought in and the rest of the team, including Ole's players for the way they performed over the season.
This is the reason we are in the situation we are, a second season in the Premier would have brought far more financial security and the chance to establish ourselves as Swansea have done.

How can you blame one person, when you still attend and you buy rebranded merchandise?

You do more damage than most!

A year in the Premier League fulfilled a lifetimes ambition for me and my beloved club, FFS!

A "waste of time" would have been lifetime of supporting the club and never seeing us play at the top table!

Meant a lot to me, and I know it meant a lot to others too (more than you might admit to!)

No better off? Well, that's a matter of perspective, fella, but I remind you we nearly didn't have a club to support under the man who would now (according to rumour) be Chairman!

Playing in an alien colour, with more debt than ever before & a totally divided fan base... Back at the level we were before all this nonsense started... Cardiff City's reputation has taken a battering too.. Please explain how the club has progressed?!

It's regressed!

I agree.

The OP does not mention that we could and probably would have been wound up.

Seeing the City in the Prem, beating the current League Champions, massive media exposure even in the US, seeing some of the worlds top players play in Cardiff, and being in the Prem at least once in my lifetime has made it worth it to me.
Adding to this the stadium extension and other developments means it's a thank you to Vincent Tan from me.
As for the debt I don't worry about it. It's not my debt it's not any fan's debt.

Aye and guess who put us there-Sam Hamman

It always tickles me that some who know better but won't admit it that if it wasn't for Tan there would be no club, blue, red or otherwise to have a hissy-fit over.

It's only a problem if Tan asks for his money back, and he's never going to seeing as he's the owner of the club so stop fretting nukes your going to give yourself a heart attack or a stroke. It'll eventually sort itself out, stop panicking ffs.

It's obvious mun innit!

Well probably not really. I believe it's the "red debt" and the "red shirt" the O.P. is referring too.

Agree with you on this, I don't feel any sympathy with the supporters who are currently fully against the red now but at the time with the rebrand were fully behind it and not in anyway negative about the idea.

Even more horrible is I been on this MB since 2011 and can only think of TLG and the Ely fella who was fully and angered by the rebrand, I know I am basing this on people who are with this MB but I don't know many people in person who I spoke to about the rebrand but I have seen enough members on here to remember, Annis was always wary but made his stance well clear that he loves this club regardless of what goes on.
