Not a huge surprise.

Cardiff blow with influential chairman Mehmet Dalman poised to resign
Mehmet Dalman wants to concentrate on other business commitments

Dalman has been a stabilising figure for Cardiff during a tumultuous period

By RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

Friday 16th May 2014

Cardiff City have suffered a significant setback with influential chairman Mehmet Dalman preparing to resign from his role at the club.
Sportsmail can reveal the Turkish-Cypriot is planning to leave in order to concentrate on his other substantial business commitments, which include finance and the mining industry.
There has been no suggestion of a fall-out with owner Vincent Tan, though the development will cause concern for Cardiff supporters.

Dalman set to hand his resignation in.

Dalman has been a stabilising figure at the club in a period of chaos, largely owing to the positive influence he is believed to hold on Tan, who entrusted him with the selection and appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Malky Mackay's replacement in January.
He drew repeated praise from Mackay for his attempts to broker peace between the Scot and Tan, while he is also credited with creating a proper boardroom structure at the club. He made the stunning claim earlier this year that the club's board members had never met each other prior to his arrival.
Dalman, who joined the Cardiff board in January 2012, had initially taken the role of chairman in July 2013 with the intention of dedicating a couple of days a week to the position.

But such has been the chaos of the club's season, it has proved to be a far more time-consuming role.
A source close to Dalman told Sportsmail a definitive decision has not been made.
News that Dalman will leave comes at a time when Tan is apparently keen to build bridges with Cardiff's support.
The Malaysian billionaire indicated last week that he was willing to consider a return to a blue kit, but his comments that only £50million of the £150m he has pumped into the club will be converted to equity have caused concern.
Tan previously promised to convert all the debt owed to him to equity.

First TG, now Dalman. Makes you worry what lies in store for us from our Malaysian clown for Dalman not wanting to associate himself with our club anymore.

Ross, you are a bit wide of the mark there, fella

It clearly states there has been NO falling out and that Mehmet Dalman wants to concentrate on his personal businesses elsewhere (and it is known Dalman has a pretty extensive portfolio)

All sounds fair enough to me and not a hint (as much as some would like) that Tan has forced the issue

Maybe I'm being a bit over positive here, but I am seeing signs that Tan has begun to see the light. What people need to appreciate is that coming from his culture, it has to look like anything he changes in the future is all his (Tan's) idea and has not been forced on him by others. That can take time...

Letting him "think" it is his idea is not such a strange phenomenon; I've used it on Mrs Sven for years and done pretty well out of it all in all! LOL :laughing6:

Nobody likes to stick around though do they ?

If's it's as simple as he just wants to focus on other business plans (which could be 100% true) then why doesn't Tan appoint someone who is committed long term to the club, because this club has 0% stability. How on earth are we suppose to progress.

One of Ole's biggest supporters gone which doesn't help stability.

TG oversaw the ownership of the club move to VT the Dalaman came in for the next phase of sorting out historical debt.

We will not get a long term chairman until the club is on a stable footing.

I see this as a positive. Dalman just may have done his job and is now off with cash in his pocket.

Unless his job was to keep us in the Premier and he's out on his ear. :)

I know what it says and I see your point. I just find it hard to believe why Dalman would want to relinquish his role of chairman so soon. He only stepped in as chairman in July 2013, surely when he initially stepped into the role he would have planned to stay a lot longer than this? The report says how time consuming his role has been with the chaos at the club, Dalman dedicated a lot of time trying to get Tan to meet up with Malky but Tan kept declining for example and it seems to me Dalman has now got fed up. I feel Dalman thinks Tan's plans next season are not something he feels is worth spending his time getting involved with. Just my opinion, but TG didn't stay long when Tan stepped in properly and now it seems the same will happen with Dalman.

Totally agree. Tan only really started getting properly involved with our club since the rebrand 2 years ago. So it looks like a third chairman will have to be appointed in just over 2 years of Tan's reign. It doesn't seem a happy camp within the hierarchy to me.

If there has been no fall out, why the sudden move spoke to Dalman last week and he was talking about organising a meeting with Tan and some fans.
Of course they have fallen out. :bluescarf:
Wonder how Tan will cope without anyone telling him what to say, hold tight its going to be interesting.

Re: Dalman to resign

It says quite clearly that originally the job only took up a few days a week. Now maybe they want someone full time and Dalman cant do it.

Re: Dalman to resign

Next Chairman will be Sam Hammam.

Tan wants to build bridges with the fans and he thinks this will help. ;)

Re: Dalman to resign

Too much hearsay regarding this. I'm not really that bothered by it. Dalman was just another businessman who had charm and charisma but I'm not really sure he was as genuine as some make out.

I don't think this will impact on the club much at all. Someone else will come in and just carry on doing the work he was doing.

I personally think that Tan proved to be a liar over the debt to equity situation and, for any Chairman worth his salt would begin to doubt things regarding the owners honesty and Dalman has decided his own reputation could be affected. Not ITK or anything just my take on things.
Of course the Club will deny a falling out. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Re: Dalman to resign

Bottom line is that Tan runs the show. TG and Dalman came and went. TG couldn't stop the 're-branding', and Dalman couldn't save Malky's job.

Tan can see for himself what the mood is among the fans. Doubt if the chairman, or anyone else on the board, has any serious input. It's all down to Tan, really. He's probably got advisors that we dont know about. Doubt if another chairman will really make much difference.

From what ive said and heard from various people Dalman is the biggest kiss arse of all Tans followers. He hasn’t done anything special since he has been here.

I hope this remains a sticky forever if for no other reason than a reminder that not even the Daily Mail are ALWAYS accurate about happenings at our Club.
