The former Bluebirds manager has spoken for the first time since dropping his case against Vincent Tan and coming under fire from Cardiff's Malaysian owner

Malky Mackay wants to move on

Malky Mackay has admitted he wants a quick-fire return to management after settling his dispute with Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan.

And his agent has revealed they are “actively involved” in getting the popular former Bluebirds boss back in the dug-out.

Mackay last week climbed down from his legal row with Tan with an unreserved apology to the Malaysian millionaire who subsequently pointed the finger of blame for the club's relegation at the Scot.

That has not stopped Mackay, who guided Cardiff to the top-flight for the first time in 51 years, being linked with a host of jobs both in the Premier Legaue and outside.

Mackay has been named evens favourite to become next Norwich manager while is second favourite for both the West Brom and West Ham jobs.

The former Scotland and Celtic defender has also been named as a contender for the Brighton job after Oscar Garcia's resignation.

And although representative Raymond Sparkes distanced Mackay from the post, he hinted at other opportunities being on the table.

“I’m aware it is an opening that has become available and for many people it would be a very attractive job,” Sparkes told the Brighton Argus regarding the Seagulls vacancy.

“I’m full of admiration for the attraction of that club but we are actively involved in a couple of things – and they are not Brighton.”

And Mackay admitted he is ready for a return after stating he enjoyed his four-month Premier League spell at Cardiff City Stadium, claiming fans should be proud of moments such as the memorable win over eventual champions Manchester City.

"I really enjoyed testing myself against the best coaches in the world," he told Sky Sports News.

"We had some tough games and there's times during those games that you really see the difference in world class players.

"Other times we competed really well and we managed to beat the champions (Manchester City), which Cardiff should be proud of."

Interviewed at the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year dinner last night, Mackay was asked about taking charge at the Canaries who joined Cardiff in dropping out of the top division.

The 42-year-old said: "There are various teams at the moment out there who don't have a manager and like everyone else I just have to wait and see.

"But I'm looking to get back into management as quickly as possible."

Would love to see him work without his right man Iain Moody to see what he does with a slightly big budget.re

Great personality and can play the media, apart from that in football perspective he can't do a thing.
