Championship this year

Thu May 15, 2014 1:42 pm

Interested to see that the 87 points we managed last year in the championship would have only got us in the play offs this year. Is that because it was a higher or lower standard, personally I feel the championship was of a higher standard this year. Puts it into perspective how difficult it's gonna be to get out of next season.

The Championship was more competative the year we won it than last year.Doncaster were relagated on 44pts this year.Last year Peterbough went down with 54pts I think it was. Which means it was a much tighter league with 43pts between winning it and relegation. This year it was 58pts differance! :o

Agree it was a lot tighter when we got promoted. All the teams were equally as poor, with no stand out teams like this season where Leicester and burnley have excelled. :thumbright:

Leeds and Norwich will go up automatically next year, Cardiff will finish mid table ;)

For me, thats another statistic that drives home the reality that we were a very ordinary side under Malky, playing very ordinary football. I know we won it fairly comfortably by 8 points, but really, how many games did we watch and thought that could have gone either way or we came away feeling we were forunate to get the draw/win or even that the other side were better, but they lost??? This season we really do have to have real goalscorers who are capable of getting 20 goals and not rely on a competent defence and bore teams to death :laughing6:
