Can Police get tickets for parking on Yellow Lines..?

Thu May 15, 2014 1:27 pm

Down the bay yesterday and saw this and to make it more sickening for anyone who has been ticketed in the past is that it was actually outside their own Police Station down there!!! Couldn't even be arsed to park in their own carpark which was meters away!!!!

One rule for the average man on the street and another for them

One day Browny you may have pushed someone a little too far and they might react very angrily, when you are fighting for your life after being stabbed I hope the emergency services aren't faffing about looking for a secure place to park while you bleed to death.

Adam, you really need to read the Road Traffic Act 1991 to get an answer to your apparent 'issue' ;)

As a generalisation (just for you):

"Emergency service vehicles have Home Office dispensation to over-ride certain road traffic laws as and when the need arises, these are laid down and defined within each specific emergency service and are not generally available to the public.

There are also guidelines issued within the services as to which traffic laws must be obeyed such as not driving the wrong way along a dual carriageway"

With respect, you don't actually KNOW why they were parked there, but consider that it just may have been for emergency purposes (and I can think of several) rather than just trying to pee Adam Brown off!

Not trying to defend them at all, but just pointing out that you may be wide of the mark in your eagerness to condemn

Due to my fine I had to hand in my licence so I was there for around 20 mins and it was still there

yes they can and do

its why traffic wardens are a separate entity from the police force

however as stated before the police can break the traffic laws if needs require and if they are on a call the fine will be wavered

as for your fine stop breaking he law and you wont have to pay out so much as you dont have any exemptions

They must be on a call inside their own station then when there's their own car park yards away!!! FFS!!!

And...???? :?

Adam, what it (for example they were 'transporting' an arrested person and needed to accompany said person to a secure place for processing?

Perhaps they might drop the prisoner off outside next time and say: "Sorry, mate, can you just wait here a minute whilst we move the car to a more suitable place in case Adam Brown makes a complaint?"

Yes, I know that's taking the Michael a little, but you really don't know why it was there ;)

Think you "thought up" a wrong 'un for a Thread today, fella
