Red or Blue poll removed after Red wins

Thu May 15, 2014 2:23 am

A poll on red or blue has been removed by Wales online after it went against its new found blue rhetoric with 65% IN FAVOUR OF RED :o

Thats insane.

Quality. Good effort from all the Jacks and Wurzels who voted red.

Wales Online are pretty retarded.

I doubt many swansea fans bothered. And why do Bristol fans read wales online?

Im sure there were a couple Gav.

But not many would have bothered reading it let alone voted.

Dont you think its odd that that people think more Swansea fans voted red than your own fans voted blue? What happened to this catchment area?

I think its fair to say there are a lot more reds than some would like to admit.

Just for your info, it was one of those votes you could vote again everytime you refreshed the page.

I think you are wrong. Also, my best mate in Brisbane is a Wurzel and reads Cardiff news on Wales online. He, like many true football fans from other clubs, is following the rebrand disaster with genuine interest. Not out of spite but because many are worried that similar things can happen to their clubs.

As for rival fans not bothering to wind Cardiff fans up by voting red? Come on. While I would be against someone ruining your club by calling you Swansea United and turning your colours to red, I would still vote on Wales Online polls just to wind you up because you are Jacks.

On another note, did you get to the Brisbane Roar FC grand final? What a top match and a super outcome. 50,000 fans watching 'soccer' in Brisbane. Superb.

But there was a read on here telling people to vote blue as well. Not to mention the fact that it was an article that no doubt would have been read by more cardiff fans than swansea.

Again, some may read it but not enough to dwarf the numbers of Cardiff that read it. All we hear is 27,000 attendances, huge club, massive catchment area - and then you reckon a few jacks from a messageboard outnumbered the blue supporting cardiff fans? That doesnt stack up to me.

No, few mates did though. The A league doesnt interest me in the slightest.

Come on Gav,are you gonna say in the same breath that all the jacks voted 50 times and none of the cardiff fans did?

Re: Red or Blue poll removed after Red wins

you only need to look around the stadium on a match day to see what the cardiff fans think. A little bit of Red in the family stand which i suppose is natural... but other than that you can barely even see a read coat, jacket or jumper, yet alone a red football shirt or scarf

Thats what I mean.

Two fanbases. One which is the hot topic and should mean everything to them, the article was aimed at them and comes under Cardiff City news. There is also supposedly a lot more of them.

The other... On the whole probably isnt that bothered either way, the article wouldnt have been read by the vast majority... Yet we are supposed to believe they outvoted cardiff fans 65% - 35% - just doesnt stack up for me.

Thats only a relatively new phenomena. People go with the crowds. Their actual opinion is probably a lot different. I know for a fact if the choice was blue back but Tan pulls the plug on signings etc then the red would be chosen by people in their thousands.

I mean there are people that like leather chaps but wouldnt wear them in a place where they would feel unwelcome. Same with the red i think. It is now fashionable to back the blue again - but id imagine privately their feeling are a lot different.

But lets not forget a small matter of just last year.....

a shameful day, that picture. but still thousands of scarfs had to be handed out for free that day.

you see hardly and, if any at all actually now.

The mood is changing in and around the fans.

As for what people would do if the option was back to blue but Tan pulls the plug? neither you nor i can say with any confidence what 25,000 would do. Me personally though would be happy to have him out of the club if it came to that choice.

I would like my club run properly, whoever is in charge

There was one thread on one forum that involved a handful of people. Are you seriously telling me they outvoted the whole cardiff fanbase 65% - 35%?

Lets not forget it was on here telling people to vote blue as well, there are more cardiff than swansea isnt there? Thats what we are told anyway? :?

They have no idea who the people voting support. They pulled it because it didnt go the way they wanted to.

Media initially didnt back it because promotion and cash = headlines. Now you have gone down the signings arent going to be big news so they go the opposite way and delete and edit to suit their agenda.

Re: Red or Blue poll removed after Red wins

Let's take an objective view here:

The poll was flawed from the start because of the multi-voting loophole.

The poll allowed people who were not even living in and around Cardiff to vote.

There are reports of rival fans being encouraged to vote red.

Although you could argue that anyone living in and around Cardiff has a stake in decisions affecting the City, non-football fans may not really understand the implications of a red vote.

BUT:

Where the hell were "we" in all this? A lack of awareness, organisation and sheer will-power allowed this to become an embarrassing , though skewed, fiasco! Where were "we" when this came to light with our regular c.24,000 attendees? If each of OUR fans sat in front of a PC for an hour and registered 100 votes, that would be 2.4 million. Is anyone seriously telling me that Jacks and Bristol fans, etc. Cared more than us?

WHAT NOW?

Let's get a proper ballot organised by at least every season ticket holder (and possibly target one home game with ticket stubs too) and get a proper, bona fide survey, externally moderated to find out once and for all.

That is the only way you will have a true reflection of the Cardiff fans.

Only my opinion but please let's not have a repeat of this.

Re: Red or Blue poll removed after Red wins

Thu May 15, 2014 7:52 am

balloting season ticket holders is the only sure way to go about it.

I think someone came on here (before the swansea board was made aware of the poll) and said the vote was 85%- 15% in favour of Blue.

Re: Red or Blue poll removed after Red wins

Before the thread was hijacked.... It was 80-90% in favour of blue... Can't remember the exact amount... There's even a thread here highlighting that fact.

After that, a thread appeared on Swansea forums and also tweets suggesting that Swansea fans sabotage the vote. It also suggested that it could be done several times and many replies said that they did this.

I suggest that the majority of Cardiff fans felt the same as me & couldn't be bothered in a silly game like that.

If you want a fair way of seeing what Cardiff fans want, take a look st match day. Yes, I know that there is the scarf gate game from a year ago.... It's amazing what people will wear for a free season ticket eh?

It's taken time, but the vast majority of Cardiff fans want CCFC in blue... As proved on match day... A far more reliable source than a vote on a website that rivals can skew by making multiple votes.

Hi Barry.

I know what you are saying about an actual show of BLUE strength, but that in itself is open to interpretation (accusations of intimidation etc.).

The only sure way is a ballot of ALL home fans on a given day.

Even the BLUE march allowed arguments afterwards about how many turned up.

Wearing blue doesnt mean anything as ive said all along, im wearing blue now.

You have been blue for 100 years, most people will only have the blue gear. People will wear what they feel others want them to, football fans are the biggest bunch of fickle people on the planet. If people start wearing blonde wigs for Daelhi before ling everyone will be, doesnt mean they love his hair or indeed want it for themselves - its just what people are doing at the time.

27,000 fans were hundreds of meters from a march for blue and only a couple of thousand bothered going as they didnt want to piss off tan as they enjoy the trapping that come with the rebrand.

I dont buy this hijacking for a second.
