Fulham owner Shahid Khan has indicated he will spend big this summer to get the club back in the Premier League.
Khan insists he is not concerned about “balancing the books” and looks willing to invest heavily.
The American billionaire also said he expects a “ground-up restoration” of the club following relegation but is confident they will bounce straight back. Khan has held talks with manager Felix Magath and is ready to release funds needed to overhaul the squad for a promotion push.
“This is not about balancing the books,” said Khan, speaking in Jacksonville, Florida today. “I am committed and we are going to do whatever to get them back to the Premier League. It [relegation] is not what we wanted, but it is reality. What we have to do is build it for the long haul.
“We are going to do whatever it takes to put the best team on the field. I have talked to Felix and what we want to do is what is in the best interest of the team.”
Fulham owner Khan set to break the bank this summer to make sure Fulham bounce straight back up to the premier league.
Fulham will have to comply with the Football League’s new Financial Fair Play rules and will be permitted a loss of £8million next season. Were they to break the rules they would face a fine if they were promoted or a transfer embargo if they stayed in the Championship.
The new rules were designed to try and stop clubs gambling unsustainably on getting into the Premier League.
Fulham will receive parachute payments of around £60m over four years to help absorb the huge losses in revenue that accompany relegation. Khan says every sponsor that had an option of re-signing for next season has done so.
“The club have great assets and great fan support,” said Khan, who bought Fulham last summer. “Now we have got to get the football side right, where you build it from the ground up and it is something that lasts a long time.”
Khan used his programme notes for Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace to blast the “simply unacceptable” attitude of some players this season. A number of high-earners are expected to leave and there is likely to be a high turnover of players this summer. Magath will remain in charge at Craven Cottage despite relegation.

i thought this season was the start of the bigger payments?
Got to hope Derby stay in the championship then, could do without QPR in the league, and Derby away is one of my favorite trips!
Money doesnt mean sucess, you really do have to buy players with some mental toughness.

The 3 teams including us, are the biggest ever, but the other 6 have been on big parachute payments as well.
QPR,Wigan and Fulham have their own big money pots.

i like Wigan, but i think they might have to sell a few players now, despite the payments, every season you spend in the championship you may have to adjust accordingly... i think mcmanaman will go.

I can see Daehli ripping half of those teams to shreds though just like trabaat did for qpr.
With John Fabio Noone running at players and whitts not being wasted we could do better then the year we went up.

QPR - apparently they are £190m in debt!! Only going by press stuff, but still.
Hardly dripping with money, and if they don't go up now they will need to offload a lot of the top players that Harry kept after going down.
Money is important but it isn't everything - playing as a team is far more valuable, just look at Burnley and (I know I might be contradicting myself here) Leicester - 2 sides who kept the faith and stuck at it, but from opposite ends of the money tree.
Interesting times - unlike this season

QPR must be losing shed loads of money, can they keep it up next season if they are still in the championship? If yes then their owner needs his head tested.

Not gone down well with fans of Fulham as they'd prefer to see their successful youth players given a chance and feel they offer more passion

Fine, let us get Hangeland then, and let them play the youngsters. Fulham started loosing big time when he got injured, and he was not quite himself after either.
Read the norwegian press today that Hangeland had trouble getting up in the morning, feeling so depressed of the relegation.
So maybe a change of environment would be good for him? Reckon "Sunny" could work wonder.

If they keep felix as there manager I think they will go straight back up.

Certainly going to be a tough season next. Fingers crossed though we'll be presented with good attacking football
