Tony Pulis has been voted the League Managers Association's Premier League Manager of the Year.
The Welshman took over at Crystal Palace in November, guiding the Eagles away from the relegation zone to an 11th-placed finish in the top flight.
The prize, which is voted for by fellow managers, has never been awarded to a manager whose club has finished outside the top five before.
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has won the award more than any other manager, claiming the honour on 11 occasions, including last season.

Tony Pulis,
Sacked by Stoke after his great achievements there, let it be known he was available and would of loved to have come to Cardiff, what a missed opportunity.
Well Done Pulis

The 56-year-old joined Crystal Palace with the side locked in a relegation battle they appeared to be losing, but guided the side to an astonishing 11th-place finish
Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has been named LMA Manager of the Year after improbably guiding the Eagles to safety.
The former Stoke City coach arrived at Selhurt Park with the club struggling at the foot of the table, having lost nine of their first 10 matches of the season.
But Pulis quickly turned the tide, winning back-to-back matches after narrowly losing 1-0 away to Norwich City in his maiden game in charge.
The club slowly rose up the table, and six consecutive wins at the tail-end of the campaign - which included victories over Chelsea and Everton - helped them secure an 11th-place finish.
Having managed just seven points before he arrived, Palace ended the season with 45 and almost secured a top-10 finish.
Under Pulis, Palace picked up 1.46 points per game - the eighth best in the division - and improved immeasurably at the back.
From having the leakiest defence in the league, Palace conceded 27 goals in 26 games under their new Welsh boss, and kept 10 cleansheets - a tally bettered only by Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Their 3-3 draw against Liverpool, meanwhile, was one of the highlights of a spectacular Premier League season, as Dwight Gayle inspired a stunning comeback that ultimately ended the Reds' title dreams.
The award marks a remarkable turnaround in affection towards Pulis, who had been criticised for playing "anti-football" while at Stoke, with the Britannia outfit having sought to take the club in a different direction.

Annis, how was he available? He took over Palace in November and Malky wasnt sacked until the end of december.

Annis I agree with you, but going back to the autumn, for me it was plain to see that once Malky and Tan had fallen out there was only ever going to be one winner sadly......big fish eat little ones.

Done a superb job but don't think he deserves it, only came in through the season.. prefer it to go to someone who was there the whole season, Martinez or Rodgers for me.

Why does Martinez deserve it? He only moved Everton up one place.

Only lost 8 games, he made some decent signings and played some great stuff in a lot of games and pulled off some great results, difficult for Martinez to walk into a bigger job than his lot and implement his style but he delivered it straight away, very unlucky not to get 4th place, Palace game cost them.

Lost one more game than Moyes did in his last season...
I can see that Martinez will take them on to big things and the style of play is fantastic but it doesn't warrant a MOTY. Everton are expected to beat the top sides at home (don't think they beat any of the top four away) they have done it for years.
Plus those "great" signings were on loan, Alcaraz and Kone have been poor (considering they have been injured a lot is bad enough but when they play they have been dreadful) we'll see how they do next season with Europa league to contend with.
It isn't a dig at Martinez, he is one of the best young managers out there right now and a genuine great guy, but he doesn't deserve a MOTY award despite not improving much on Moyes' work.
