Cardiff City fans will be treated to a pre-season tour of Bavaria in July as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares his team for the Championship.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take his Cardiff City squad to Germany for their pre-season tour in July to play two or three matches.
The Bluebirds manager and his players will be based near the Bavarian city of Nuremberg and play against opposition from the second tier of German football.
That leaves 2.Bundesliga clubs FC Erzgebirge Aue, SpVgg Greuther Fuerth and FSV Frankfurt as contenders to face the Bluebirds but Fuerth will still be involved in a promotion play-off against Hamburg SV.
Norwegian Solskjaer confirmed today: “We’ll be going to Germany and spending a week, not far from Nuremberg.
“We will be playing second Bundesliga teams, which will be good games for us.
“We are likely to play two or three matches in Germany, although the details are being finalised.”

Former City manager Dave Jones preferred to take his squad to Portugal when he was in charge, while Malky Mackay opted for two pre-season trips to Switzerland but did not organise any matches.
Solskjaer, though, wants challenging matches as part of the preparation for the Championship season, which starts on Saturday, August 9. Fixtures are to be released on June 19.
The squad will report back for duty at the end of June and will go straight into pre-season work.
“We will have a couple of weeks here in Wales and play a couple of local matches with players involved for 45 minutes each,” says Solskjaer.
“We’ll be away in Germany for a week and after that we will have another two and a half weeks before our first match.”

Anyone know if FSV Frankfurt play in the same stadium as Eintracht Frankfurt? I went there in 2012 and seen the stadium, looked impressive

Just watch them, it's a good opportunity and I'm sure you'll be made to feel more than welcome

nope, can't do it. Hurts me more than staying away. Most prob will meet some of my mates there and go for a beer, schnitzel etc. but not going to watch the team.
Unless Tan changes the badge and colours before...

on the other hand: one could have a pig's breakfast up there, producing loads of anti-rebrand banners, TAN OUT flags etc....
as one well recognized member/mod would say: "Hmmmm...."

There's an airport in Frankfurt, took about 2 hours to get there from Cardiff, with a changeover in Amsterdam. I'd imagine all the areas are close to each other so it'd probably take less than 2 hours to get between each stadium on the Autobahn

Might be up for this. Nuernberg is a 5 Hour drive but it should be worth it.
Any chance of meeting the players, watching training sessions on these pre season trips or are they locked away?
Might be able to get some of my Wolfsburg mates to come along. Lots of the lads have been following Citys progress for years now...

I'm sure they would be more than welcome to meet the fans, I know it was under Malky but when they went to Dubai they welcomed fans and let them watch, even signed things and posed for photos, no chance they'll be locked away, enjoy it

id love to go down there but Wolfsburg have qualified for the Europa league and the lads are keeping they're money to get to some away games. Hoping for Spurs or Inter Milan....might have to go alone
